this is my 3.1 unholy tanking talent spec:
http://ptr.wowhead.com/?talent=j0E0cZ0xZbghI0bkgh0Rfsux
ive been going back n forth on what to do with those 3 points in dark conviction, but i figure if i'm raiding there will be another dk in the raid thats at least 1 tier into the frost tree and thus will have the imp icy touch debuff for bosses.
I see a lot of people taking desecration. remember it only works while standing in it. so for all those fights that require you to move around a lot this is just waisted talent points. which makes this talent too situational for me. id rather have something more dependable for any scenario like wondering plague.
BCB is not a tanking talent. most of your auto attacks get converted into rune strikes and thus will not benefit from talents that effect auto attacks. this is why BCB and necrosis are not good for tanking.

I noticed in several other specs that people are leaving out Two-handed Weap. Spec.. Imho, this is a mistake b/c your major threat moves ALL are based on weapon damage, and THWS will raise your top end damage by several hundred damage.
This is wrong. The majority of your threat as unholy comes from spell damage. Unholy blight, blood boil, DnD, Icy Touch, Death Coil.
Really the only abilities you use as unholy that are based on weapon damage are blood strike, plague strike, scourge strike and rune strike. And your really not using most of those very often since your dropping DnD every 15 seconds using up 3 runes.
Also another DK unholy tank talent spec that is waisting points in necrosis. And no AMZ?

Dropping DnD every 15 secs? Death Coil as threat? You are fail.
D&D has the largest threat modifier we have, if you were unaware.
Death coil for RP dump when you already have unholy blight up. What do you do with excess RP, just let it waist away after it caps at 100?
icy touch needs to be reapplied every 20 seconds or so
fail

And you can death-coil for an RP dump. However, since Runestrike is always procced when I'm tanking, I never have a full RP bar.
And yes you do have to refresh IT, but that does not mean the puny initial damage it offers to Unholy does meaningful threat.
I never said it was meaningful threat. all i did was list all the abilities used that are spell damage, and then list all the abilities used that are weapon based damage.
Lets see how awsome your endless runestrikes are come 3.1 when DK's stop being avoidance kings and move more towards mitigation. Also this is only currently viable if you have all the best gear in game to push your avoidance high enough to make it work. For all of us lowly undergeared DK's, runestrike is not always proc'ing which means it is not always the most threat, and its much more random in nature and not dependable. Idunno about you, but id rather have dependable threat.
