The fact that you still deny God even when it's laid out right in front of you like that is disturbing.
Right back at you.

Laihendi
The thing is you still haven't explained why christianity is in any way shape or form credible or believable. You also still haven't explained why anyone should believe in your god. That's the difference, so no, not right back at Laihendi.

Once again since you don't seem to be paying attention, I've tried explaining it to you guys from my point of view, but every time I do most of you say that because that isn't hard factual evidence to believe you discredit it. Also, what made me believe in Christianity might not be what makes you guys believe. People come to Christ for many different reasons, so what works for me may not work for you. That's another barrier I've got to get over.

If it's not based on evidence or facts, then it means nothing. You just said yourself your beliefs are not based on evidence or facts, what are they based on?
Post by
Queggy
No, I said that I think it is based on facts, but that you guys don't think those are "facts".
Post by
Laihendi
How can you say it's a fact when it isn't backed up by substantial evidence?
Post by
Queggy
Once again, it is substantial evidence for me, but for you it obviously isn't. It's all a matter of opinion.

I was made to believe that Christianity is about Faith over Facts. So, a real Christian needs absolutely no factual proof to base his beliefs on. If you need proof, it means you are insecure about God, and thus not truly faithful.
'Course, that's just what I was made to believe.

You don't need facts, but I was trying to give them some to prove to them.
Edit - Although I wouldn't say that if you want proof you are totally whatever. Moses and Gideon are two people that asked for proof from God and they were used in important roles by Him.

Evidence isn't opinion. There is no more evidence backing up your religion than all the discredited religions of the past. There's nothing any more special about it than the others. No one takes those seriously these days, and one day the same will happen with christianity.
If you are willing to believe something purely out of faith, then you are choosing to remain ignorant.
And you haven't given any facts yet.

Because it's true? If you just believe something because you want to believe it, instead of because there being a legitimate reason to believe it, then it's true. Yeah, no doubt it would be much better if there was a great protective god watching over the world, and when you died you got to go to heaven and be happy for forever... but the idea of that is just ludicrous.

Why don't you look back at me and Bootspurr discussing this? We touched on this subject with a discussion of infinity.
Post by
Laihendi
Laihendi doesn't need to look at it. He knows his beliefs, and is obviously willing and capable of explaining them.

Emotions are chemicals in the brain.
Supposedly. Emotions are supposedly chemicals in the brain. I still fail to believe this at all, because I can easily control what I'm feeling on my own free will, not what the juices in my brain tell me.

This is just inappropriate, to say someone is ignorant because they are religious is ignorant in itself.
Everyone has there beliefs, you're atheist fine but don't call someone ignorant for not being an atheist.
Also, science doesn't preform miracles everyday.
Those aren't miracles happening. Everything happens for a reason, and there's always a rational explanation for everything that does happen.

You're aware that drugs can be used to alter emotions, aren't you? Have you ever wondered how?
