I'm wondering aswell, apparently he got into a fight with one (or several?) of the moderators, and it got quite violent.
Indeed. If you look back in the RB a few pages back, it seems he was warned a couple of times.
I've spoken to Ashelia this afternoon (on a semi-related topic) and she gave me an example of what something contributing to the ban (or at least, supporting the ban, seeing as I'm not sure if it occured pre or post-ban). If what she showed me was true (and I don't have any particular reason to think otherwise), then it seems that he just pushed his luck one step too far.

I won't disagree with you, from what i saw in various (eh, most of them) threads on the forum he had the ability to turn everything into a debate of some sort, rare ability, sometimes good, sometimes not
