And I'm wearing a Vader shirt, another example of a better, and much more consistent, metal band, especially considering they've also been around for about 20 years.

I'm bad at math, but yeah. Metallica is just under 30 years since first release and Vader is just under 20 since first actual release. I wasn't really trying to say that they have both been around for the same amount of time, just that Vader had also been around awhile.

Iron Maiden certainly is. And Iron Maiden also an example of a much better and more consistent band than Metallica. I'm still kind of confused about how this ended up being about Metallica. I just referenced them as an example of stuff that doesn't get better with age.

And it can, I certainly agree there. Starting at Sonic Firestorm, Dragonforce was essentially rolling on a pattern of playing simplistic and ridiculously similar rhythms incredibly fast and then throwing in a some solos and a ballad. It's still fun to listen to, but I wouldn't say it's great music.

That's why it's called Foreground music or background music.
I mean that it honest-to-God becomes indistinguishable from, say, the A/C or the rain after about ten minutes if I'm doing anything else at all. That's why I used the word "noise." :P
