Fire easily.
I don't like to picture myself as the studious mage. More a wrathful sorceress. ;)
Scorch is my kind of spell specifically. I don't like fireball at all.
Hotstreak, Firestarter, and Blastwave really make the spec feel very fiery and fast. Before I just liked the damage but those aforementioned 3 points make fire my style.
Right now I'm in a Frostfire roll to be more raid help since everything that I like about fire is "PvP"
Yeah that's right. PvP Fire.
The spec has grown on me though and my fire build is almost intact underneath so even with that tiny bit of blue in my cast rotation it's still fire to me. Fire with very angry triple 10k crits. <.<

Was born frost mage and loved the hell out of it until I saw the light of Arcane, and that light, was PURPLE !
Seriously though I do love some of the things frost does and it does a lot of things well. But while summoning people to H Uk the other day a flagged ally priest popped up from their summon and my team decided to have some fun with her, which of course brought her whole party into it and I was bursting people down faster than I thought possible. I have never PvP'ed on my mage until then and I couldnt believe how fast the Allies were dying.
Gotta say Arcane all the way, like others have said it's primieval magic at its most raw, just fits a mage.

I rather like Arcane, mostlybecause it symbolizes the mage for me. For example, most of the class-defining spells of the mage fall in this category. Besides, they look cool.

I'd still be frost; simply because I prefer to torture my enemies with a numbingly painful death than just burst them into flames and ash. I don't really see shooting fluoro lights at my adversaries as being all that menacing.
Plus, as frost there'd always be a bit of potential for smashy-smashy! As long as they're not made of liquid metal...

IF all 3 specs did same dps, I would most definitely choose arcane. Missle barrage procs are to me the coolest looking spell in game.

I'm still leveling (no PvP) and it's Frost all the way.
Solo, the survivability is unmatched.
Ice Barrier then Mana Shield, then Ice Barrier's cooldown is up and do it again .. I don't even bother with Ice Armor, I keep Mage Armor (w/ Glyph) up to reduce downtime.
Jumped by a mob unexpectedly? Frost Nova (w/ Glyph) and blink to get control of the situation. Mobs too close together to pull one at a time, start the fight with Blizzard (3/3 Imp Blizzard).
Grouped, especially with a Paladin .. he sets'em up, I knock'em down (again with the blizzard). Yes, I'm 3/3 Frostbite, because Fingers of Frost won't proc on Blizzard (giving me the Ice Shards/Shatter combo). Of course, I also have 2/2 Fingers of Frost for bosses in instances.
Despite being Frost, my DPS is respectable for my level. I know my
class
spec, and have gotten comments on how much I do.
That said, I know a serious raiding mage can't be Frost, and when I get to level 80 and start doing Naxx 10 (and beyond) I'm going to need to switch to FFB or Arcane.
But until that time .. Frost all the way.
"spec" is more accurate than "class" .. fixed it.
