In my opinion it won't work, i was a clicker like you at beginning (like 3 years ago), i've been both tanking and healing, then i switched class and someone told me to try keybindings.
It's totally another world, you have much faster reactions and you can relax a bit more without having to continuously switch between your Actionbars and your visual screen. I suggest you to try and keybind your skills/spells around your moving keys (AWSDX), and bind your cooldowns (like Berserk or Survival Instincts) to numbers (1-3 is what i use)
Here's how i binded my keys if you want to test it
Q = lacerate
E = mangle
R = maul
Z = charge
C = demo roar
V = taunt
1 = berserking
2 = Survival Instincts
3 = Barkskin

Clickers are usually slower at stuff than regular keybinders. Tanking requires quick reactions (like picking up stray mobs), and clicking doesn't provide that speed.
my actionbar is like this:
1: Mangle
2: Lacerate
3: Maul
4: Swipe
5: Taunt
6: Bash
7: "AoE-taunt".
8: empty
<: Barkskin
q: Enrage
e: Demoralizing roar
r: Ferocious regeneration
Got a whole line of more stuff on the shift+keybind-list too.
Utter nonsense.
Having tanked every single boss in the game on both normal and Heroic I can safetly say that clicking works just fine.
You might be unique or something, but every clicker I've seen have been unable to respond quickly to new situations.

you can relax a bit more
this.
So why would anyone ever click? Harder is often more fun when it comes to games.
People who do really well with clicking are less common than people who do really well with keybinds because it takes good eyesight and very good aim to have instant access to all your clicked spells. Anyone who can do this will tell you it is easy without realising quite how good their aim is.
I would suggest trying keybinding though. It takes mere minutes to set up and although you will be bad at it at first it's worth doing at least a few instance runs with it to see if you warm to it. If you don't like it go back to clicking. You will never know and never have a valid opinion on the matter until you have tried it.

Hummm maybe I do just have good aim.... (yes my ego is swelling slightly)
The only real problem I have seen with Keybinders is when the switch to a different toon or respec. Everything is bound in the wrong place and it can get very confusing, simply seeing the icon makes it easier imo
I took me a while of experimenting, but i did crack this. My druid keybind setup is identical no matter what spec i am using.
It stemmed from needing to use a lot feral abilities quickly when being a PvPing resto. The crux of my config is that I re-assigned the default keybinds for the main action bar so that 6, 8, 9, 0 are Q, E, R, X. I did this because you can't actually reach numbers 6 onwards without picking your hand up and i can't do it without looking at the keyboard either. The benefit of reassigning number keybinds on the main bar is that when you shapeshift and the actionbar for the new form appears, you still have those keybinds at your disposal, but can put new macros on them for the new form.
Ofc when you do this you can't have any shapeshift keybinds on the main bar, because the bar changes and you'd need the same macros in every bar. So shapeshift keybinds (i only have 2, both with shift alternate functions) are on a separate bar.
And that's it. Haven't changed it since i cracked it about 6 months ago. Works for resto, feral, and balance with no reconfiguring whatsoever.
As a side note - i try to use similar keybinds for similar abilities on other toons so it isn't too hard to remember. For example, R = Maim (when cat), Bash (when bear), Typhoon (when moonkin/caster), Counterspell (on my mage), Spell Lock (on my lock), Strangulate (on my DK). So R = interrupt, on all characters.

I don't feel it's that much of a problem when changing toons. Sure, it is at the start but it gets ingrained quite rapidly. I had more problem getting used to respecs on my warlock (and losing UA and SL) than i've ever had switching from druid to warlock.
Even now, not having touched my warlock since 3 months, i can go back to it and use the right rotation just through keybinds (now that i'm starting to level it again).
In my opinion keybinds are better because you can use them without having to look at the keyboard or focus on a small part of the screen, which gives you more time to focus on something else (timers, cds, what the mobs is doing, ...). Which doesn't mean you can't perform well clicking.

Tanked Sapphiron and Kel last night, and I click.
It just takes a little more practice than keybinding, but if you do it enough you'll probably be fine.

Also, whenever I'm healing, both on my druid and priest, I use mouseover-macros. I hoved my mouse over the party/raid-frame and click (with my left hand) the appropriate healing-spell.
I can't imagine how healing as a clicker is...

Why not doing both? im doing about 50/50 clicking and working my keys.
Healing as a clicker isnt so bad if u got a addon for it, i did.
