Im curios and tho it isn't that much of somthing to talk about i thought it could be brought into discussion, me finding out most of my friend do gave me the idea to post this.
I myself do, a femal blood elf deathknight. I wanted a horde character and i wanted one that when holding a 2h it didnt look like the char had to be pumping steroids to even lift it in the air . (Female Belf's weapon are alot smaller compared to the size of female human, undead and troll's) I also wanted a toon that had realistic attack animations.
So, what about you?

Realistic attack animations but not a realistic healthy body mass index.
Kidding. If the race has attractive females, I'll roll one. If the males look badass, I roll male.
All alliance barring dwarves, I'd roll female (male gnomes rage me more than female), most horde except BE, and possible UD, I'd roll male.

I've got a female blood elf paladin and used to have a female human rogue. Blood elf males are annoying, and human males are ridiculously buff and have stupid faces. My mains (an orc and a tauren) are males, though.

i think it's "weird" for a guy to play a female toon. that's all
nothing against anyone who does but it is weird..
I understand not wanting to look at a male toon while playing so much but all you see is the backside of it 99% of the time anyway and no toons arse looks hot enough for me to want to play one :P
staring at a bouncing chest in a game doesn't do anything for me either.
I'm just weird I guess
because I know there are a lot and I mean a lot of males who roll female toons..
One other thing that I think is funny is a male rolling a female druid.. I really don't understand that one at all considering a druid is in their shifted form most of the time they are leveling so you're not even getting to look at a female on screen but a bear/cat/owlbear/tree.
I know I know I'm in the minority like usual :P

I can't believe how many times this topic comes up...
And how a completely different cast of characters ends up repeating exactly the same 10-page script as the last time the topic came up.
I could say the same thing about rate my talent builds I see every day or zomg blizz is dropping epic mount price but I don't.
It's a forum, a place for discussion and when people bump up a topic from 2 months back than they get beat up for being a necro.
don't like it don't participate in the thread...

I have a female mage and priest simply because big, buff casters look funny. I don't pretend to be a girl on either of them 'cause that's just stupid/wierd/gross.

I don't understand the notion of being uncomfortable with playing opposite genders as I don't see my characters as a reflection of my sexual preference.
Right now I'm playing my female tauren death knight. She doesn't look like me; she doesn't act like me. She's a giant, axe-wielding, bipedal cow. What difference does her gender make?

I played a male night elf druid for a while -- people thought it was weird but I never felt uncomfortable about it.
