The only time I've been helped by a hordie is when I'm about to die to a pile of mobs (I'm a gnome.. I've got guts >:D) and they decide not to kill me. They just kill the mobs around me and take off.
I, however, have helped many horde. I noticed an undergeared warrior having trouble with his TB dailies, so I followed him around, let him tag stuff, and I would kill it for him. I was doing the same ones anyway, so yeah.
I've also lead a couple hordies around quest areas (Deepholm and the like) while doing dailies or doing quests myself on my alt. You can usually tell if someone is having a tough time with quest items/NPCs/and so forth... lol.
I'm on a PvP server, so it seems nicer. :3(##RESPBREAK##)140##DELIM##MasterOfDisguise##DELIM##Note: This is

If its a frost mage or male belf, its dead. If its on my KoS, its dead. If its near my gear level, I attack to get a challenge.
If its one of the persons that only attacks me when hes with friends, I corpsecamp him till he logs. Srsly, that pisses me off sooooo much.
Otherwise, I'm usually quite nice. I also team up with hordes while doing dailys ever now and then: for example, the TB daily where you kill ghost warriors south of the darkwood. I kill the orc, horde guy kills the dwarf, both happy.

I usually follow the maxim
If its red, its dead.
and I expect the same in return. Can't let them get the first strike in.
However, there have been times I've helped an alliance player. Usually it mainly involved a large quest boss/event that they were attempting to solo, as was I, and would have slim chances of success. Then they usually return the favor.
Then I kill them.

If theres a low level ally I see I let them live. If theres a high level ally that goes around one shotting low levels for "teh lulz" then they should expect a chains of ice and deathgrip over to me :)

the only time i come across alliance and they do something mean is mining for ele/pyr. other than that i never tag myself anyways, however there have been times when some allies might come by doing a quest and maybe help me with my kills, especially if its a boss. however half the time until i can see a character up close i can never tell if its alli or horde, and will help them if it seems they need it such as on boss quests.

I often find myself being helped or helping members of the opposite faction at times or ending up laughing and getting along with them after a little scuffle. An example was in wrath, a night elf was trying to do the fishing daily in WG and me and a guildie ganked him a few times before we ended up just sitting next to him and fishing. Was rather amusing. I've also had allies help me with overworld boss monsters and crucible, most likely to get me out of their way faster so they could have a turn. Usually try to stick around after and return the favor.
There's always jerks that go around ganking for fun, and that's all it is: fun. People shouldn't take it so seriously. The way I see it, if you're flagged on a PvE server, you're just asking for it and have no reason to complain. If you're on a PvP realm, you're REALLY asking for it. lol
I figure it's a karma thing. Endure enough people coming to stab you in the back and you'll run into the ones that decide "you know, I think I'll give that guy a break today!"

Really, what I do is check their level. If its a lower level alli, I approach them, and simply wave or something to them, and if foolish enough to try something, I instantly hit back. If same level, I approach them, and do as they do. If they just stand or /wave, I do the same. If they attack, i will too, If they aren't even "for the alliance" then I will communicate in anyway possible. I will /wave, /question, and /laugh, /dance, and /fart whenever it seemed like the time to. And lastly, If I see an alli 'having trouble', I would, plus already have, helped them. Especially on Tol Barad dailies.

I have been helped by some horde at times, even on PvP servers when they could've killed me instead. I normally don't play horde, but I once was brought into a horde guild with a good friend of mine. Both sides are equal in friendlyness, just depends on who you meet.

Personally speaking, the only time I will attack a Horde character is in a battleground or arena match. I'm on a PVE server, so its not often that I see an attackable Horde out in the world questing etc, but if I do I don't attack them, partly because I know I hate getting attacked and killed when I am still pvp-flagged.
I also would happily help to kill a mob that a Horde player is attacking, especially if that player is about to die because of the mob. At the end of the day, behind the on screen character is a real person, so I would be nice to them and help them regardless of their faction. :)
