If you used trade for chat you'd be instantly and permanantly banned.
Is there a flaw ?
I wish to trade views about how xxdkspwnnubsxx is retarded.
There you go, a legitimate reason to post in the trade channel. I'm trading insults.
I'm not sure if spammers are smart enough to get through a loophole, but you never know.
Also, one persons spam is another persons interest.
How do you define spam?
Is 9 consecutive messages detailing the sale of spam?
Some might argue that it is a legitimate method of advertising, forcing the viewer to take notice.
Taking Evony as an example, those ads are everywhere. I currently see that ad 3 times on the same page, two of which are next to each other. The ads worked, I played Evony (even if it was only for 2 days).

Sorry but did you even read what i said ? I said if people spam they are
INSTANTLY AND PERMANANLTY BANNED.
Additionally theres rules in place for to prevent spam.
The problem with this idea is that there is no method in place for that "instant" ban.
A software solution wouldn't work since all that would be needed to slip past it is to use a macro that changes one word or add a new period each time the spam was sent. Also it would require massive server resources scanning each sent message that could be used for other functions.
Having GMs monitoring the channels would require at least one GM per server. We've already have long waits on GM replies so what would be the expectation that Activison would authorize the hiring of the needed number of personal for this job?
I already use a couple of addons that alleviate the problem by blocking chat messages containing certain words, or phrases and expand my /ignore list. If Blizzard would implement in game versions of these it would fix the problem without needing more personnel, creating a channel by which spammers could reach every player in game, and lower the GM workload as fewer reports are being made.
Just expanding the /ignore to include "/ignore account" would massively lower the spam/ garbage since what fool is going to continue if it means none of his/her toons can look for groups?
