[4.2.0] What can you Shiv off, you ask?

Have you ever wondered what can you
Shiv
off from your enemies?
If the answer is yes, then you would want to check out this list. In some cases dispelling an Enrage is not that big of a deal, but when facing someone like a Fury Warrior it can turn the tables, because they rely a lot on it to use
Raging Blow
, and believe me you
don't
want to get hit by that!
Also take in account that dispelling certain Enrages at the very exact moment may be decisive in some encounters.
Now let's take a look at this:
Death Knights
:
(only Unholy) and
(only Blood).
Druids
:
,
Savage Roar
,
(only Balance) and
(only Feral).
Paladins
:
(only Protection).
Warriors
:
Berserker Rage
,
(only Arms),
(only Fury),
(only Fury),
(only Protection) and
(only Protection).
- Why should you Shiv the target affected by Unholy Frenzy, you ask?
Unholy Frenzy does not only increase melee and ranged haste by 20%, but it also damages the target every 3 sec. and thus preventing the target from being Blinded or any other CC for that matter. Unfortunately, this can be cast on an already CC'ed partner, so conveniently when fighting against a DK and someone else, try to make him use it before you blow your Blind (unless you are going to Blind the DK, of course).
- Why should you Shiv a Druid, you ask?
You may or may not know who are you fighting against, but Feral Druids frequently spec with
and that's one reason why you may want to dispel Enrage, while the other reason being that it helps
Frenzied Regeneration
. Note that you will only see this on Bear Form though. Balance Druids have their own enrage as well, which is triggered by all attacks, which means that for a rogue, it will proc very frequently. The sad part is that it will make the caster immune to pushbacks besides the 10% damage increase, that added 1 sec. to the cast time is priceless, but you will find it proccing so frequently that you may choose to actually do damage than rather Shiv spamming. About Savage Roar, it's nothing to worry about, you won't see it that often in PvP anyway.
- Why should you Shiv a Warrior, you ask?
Warriors are the class with the most variety of Enrages and also the class most susceptible if they lose them. First of all and most important, Warriors
NEED
an Enrage effect on themselves to activate
and that's an impressive non-dispellable self-healing (which is affected by Fury's Mastery). On the other hand, as I previously said, Fury Warriors need to be Enraged in order to use Raging Blow, which being affected by their Mastery can hit really hard, like really. So to sum up, by dispelling a Warrior's Enrages, you not only weaken his damage but you also limit his abilities, especially for Fury..and you will also figure out they are nothing but a cupcake for breakfast once you start tranquilizing them.
- Why should you Shiv Vengeance from any kind of Tank, you ask?
By doing so, they get a debuff that makes them unable to gain Attack Power through Vengeance for around 10 seconds. That will calm down those tanks that think they are cool at PvP.
What Add-ons might help you Shiv something you should, you ask?

DispelBorder
: If you use the default UI, it just makes the buffs glow yellow like it does for mages when they can spell steal. A very handy add-on in my opinion. Download link:

-
PowerAuras
: Good for monitoring buff and debuffs on you and your targets. More complex to use compared to DispelBorder though, in my opinion. Download link:

It may be a bit obsolete (is that the right word?), but will hopefully reduce the amount of "wut shiv do" threads.

Good post all in all. If you are new to pvp i can see this being a big help. I vote for sticky only because ive seen questions asked about this alot and there is really no compiled list.

You wouldnt happen to know the Aura name for these?
I made a shiv aura for enrage and berserk, but not sure if the others have the exact sytax as their aura, as the spell name
thanks great post

Sorry, I'm not used to PowerAuras. DispelBorder is easier to set up.

I'm fairly certain that you can't dispel BW anymore. Can't actually test it right now though. Also, don't bother looking for the buffs Wrecking Crew and Bastion of Defense because those are just the talent names. The buffs you want to look for are all conveniently named "Enrage".

I posted those talents to show what and how many Enrages might every Warrior spec have. Wrecking Crew, Enrage and Bastion of Defense, they all give the same buff (even though it only last for 9 seconds for Enrage (Fury)). If I didn't post those talents, people might think that, for example, Arms Warriors can only have 1 Enrage active at the time.

Could someone post how to actually get Power Auras to pop up for an enemy's buff, I can't figure it out.

Just tested Shiv on BM hunters. You can't dispel BW or tBW. As for power auras code, try importing this:
Version:4.9; b:0; anim1:4; g:0.1843; target:true; icon:Spell_Shadow_UnholyFrenzy; buffname:Enrage/Unholy Frenzy/Berserker Rage/Savage Roar/Vengeance/Death Wish; texture:51; exact:true; wowtex:true; size:0.39; y:139

I really hope you are right, thanks for saying it though.

BW hasn't been dispellable since early wotlk I think. That's why your first post got me curious.
edit: Something I should add is I find it always takes 2 shivs to remove Savage Roar off a cat. I have no idea why.

You can add Owlkin Frenzy to the list. Boomkin talent.

Sniper, have you tested it? I can't play right now to test it by myself :( But I will change it asap when you tell me you did.

It seems it can be dispelled. There is a similar list on
WoW forums
. When I searched for it in google, I had several other sites confirm that it is dispellable.

Hey Meld...did you notice that a guy from the link you posted linked this thread there? lolz.

Yes I did. If I say that you should add something to a list, that usually means I did test it ;)

You weren't suppose to notice that! I found other sites with the info for a reason =P
