I'm surprised to not see more praise about this.
I feel like this is a great example of Blizzard "listening" to players - something they're often accused of not doing!
Quick way for a character to get "caught up" to do current content
BoA so that alts can get a huge boost based on work you've already done on your main
Gear is not so good as to be BIS over current content raid/M+ gear
No socket lottery
Nice way to get LFR transmogs without having to do LFR
IMO this is all goodness

BfA has been really bad for transmog sets. Probably the worst expansion for transmog in all of WoW's history. I really hope you can do better in Shadowlands Blizzard.

The blue/gold Alliance sets from the Arathi warfront are decent, but the other sets...yeah, I agree.

These catch up systems are just out of hand. We just had Benthic introduced last patch...
Benthic is pretty much made completely pointless with this. Not to mention all the work anyone put into this tier at Normal or below.
You're now bottom of the barrel next patch. Doesn't feel great for concurrent players.

Benthic would be useless anyway, as the equip effects won't work in ANY 8.3.0 content (assaults, visions, and the raid)

You can upgrade Benthic gear up to 425, honestly I don't see the point of this new catch up gear if it's going to be lower than that.

Wouldn't fully upgraded 425 Benthic still have more stats than one of these 415s?

This is catch-up gear for alts. Benthis starts at 385 and you need tons of pearls to upgrade everything higher then 410, and fresh alts this is meant for have no pearls. The time you spent farming those pearls, you could also spend playing 8.3 content, and get gear 425+ from the world content and horrific visions.

So Bliz is feeling confident that their take on professions in BfA is "spot on" and they are going to basically double-down on the "benthic idea" and let crafting suck tubes.
Cuz that is more fun than crafting in WoD and Legion and having a thriving player-to-player AH? I guess the MMO is moving as quickly as possible to SOLOMO.

Can someone explain to me why we get upgrades for blacksmithing, leatherworking and tailoring to craft items at 400 item lvl in 8.3 if we can buy catch up gear that's 415 in half an hour? Seriously, I hate to complain, but aside from Enchanting and cooking, professions are currently pointless (I'm not counting jewelcrafting because there's such a profusion of gems on the market that you actually sell them at a loss in comparison to the price of the ore !)
Because in simple words, those professions you mentioned are utterly useless and second, because Blizzard doesn't care. I agree with you as I'm a Blacksmith too and anything other then alchemy/herbalism is more or less useless.
There is absolutely nothing of value of gear in the AH on my server once you pass around ilvl 370. I have been having trouble with one character getting rings over 400, so I went to the AH every day for two weeks and nothing. This is a gap that could definitely be filled (and obviously my server has problems, as there are piece that could fill the gap and I'm even willing to spring some gold). JC is dead as a doornail where I play.
All this system behind BoP materials (expulsom, dg and raid items) is gamebreaking to a far extent. Why then, for example not making Expulsom account-wide, so people wouldn't sell them directly? Toons that don't have crafting professions will have 'useless' Expulsom in their bags for the eternity, or unless they delete it.
Also, even raid-level crafting gear are too expensive or take too long time to craft, because by then, you've already out-leveled them, and there are some crafted BoP items too. You could craft for your alts, yeah, you could craft to sell on the AH, yeah, but since how Blizz hogged on the gold farming in BfA, and people putting very high prices, it is better to just sell the mats instead.

I wouldn't mind if they kept these systems but made the professions able to create weapons, rings, trinkets etc that are relevant.

People found a way to complain on EVERYTHING, even when blizzard is listening to players.

415 ilevel is 15 ilevels below even Ny'alotha LFR (LFR: 430, Normal: 445: Heroic: 460: Mythic: 475) in 8.3. These are garbage even for people trying to catch up in ilevel or for alts. Until these are made at least 425 ilevel, they are worthless, and you can stop ****ing off Blizzard and pretending otherwise.

Remember previous expansions with its own transmogs for such types of gear, recolours at least. And now it's the same as lfr sets. Too lazy design. Also 1st bfa season pvp and raid transmog were different to each other. In third season pvp and raid sets were the same, but recolours and pvp were sets were faction based. In 4th season pvp sets are still recolours of raid sets, but not faction based now.
I mean all bfa pvp sets were faction based (red and blue shades, also too lazy), now it's red for elite and blue for gladiator sets. 2 times less recolours.)
Compare it to previous expansions and remember class specific sets and recolours for each raid difficulty and pvp faction.)

Well, it's simply because the new profession recipes the 'uncanny gladiator' gear is now at ilvl 400 compared to the current 'Notorious gladiator' gear which is at 370. Seeing how mythic 0 dungeons still drop 400 ilvl gear i.e. there is no change in the ilvl of the drops, its the fastest way to get any alt to have 400+ ilvl gear, simply send these tokens over, then have a crafting alt who can make the new recipes send over some new weapons. Volla! : 415 gear for the rest of the armor, 400 weapon/s, the only thing left to figure out is the rings and trinkets.

Monkeys Paw. From here on out, Blizzard deserves no praise for fixing their mistakes and becoming better. And now, neither do you, ever again. All mistakes you ever make now define you and can never be rewritten.
Unless you think you don't make mistakes, in which case you're literally not worth talking to.
