It's 2017 and Void Torrent still doesn't "Raise your dagger into the sky"
I'm still bothered by this too. Did Blizzard forget the tooltip that they wrote for this ability?
How they managed to make everything worse?
As a shadow priest main since BC, I fully approve.
Looking cool imo.
I just hope the glyph still works...
Sometimes I miss Mind Spike. The animation and sound effect anyway, not so much the poorly designed talent from this expansion. It was cool when you used it rotationally back in WoD, with the talent that turned Shadow into a direct damage caster, especially when you got Multistrike procs.

Don't different races have different animations? Or are we getting rid of that now?
I'm not sure about this one, honestly.
Right now it seems like all of the SPriest animations are dark for the sake of being dark. While it makes sense for all of the "Void" spells to be epic and have an inky blackness literally pouring out of you as you wear down your foe with entropy and all-consuming nothingness (and thus I think they're great), I feel like a lot of the "Mind" and "Shadow" spells you cast
of Void Form should be... subtler.
I don't think the old animations for things like Mind Blast and Shadow Form were necessarily better made or even
by today's standards, but I do think they were more fitting for the image of a Priest whispering doubts into the target's mind, rather than 'flaying their mind' by cracking their skull open with an intense laser first.
I think of the pre-Void Form spells as the type a Shadow Priest would use while walking the streets of Stormwind in order to avoid the guards' suspicion - like Benedictus did, until he threw off the pretense of subtlety and called upon the true power of the Void for the final confrontation while babbling wicked words in the mad tongue.
All of the animations look nice, but i think the shadowform particle effects (the purple flame) should be reduced or lessened. Looking at it really hurts my eyes.
To be honest, old animation for mind spike would be more suitable for mind blast ... its "mind" why the blast is shown at the bottom of the dummy ... feet blast ? ...
That's the dummies fault not the animation. That's how dummies have worked since forever.

Well done. These look great! Only piece of constructive criticism: if it's called mind flay, then why is it shooting down at the target's feet rather then hitting its head?
Perhaps because Blizzard thinks the mind is in the feet rather than the head :D jokes aside, they are probably still working on that
Fact that mind flay is shooting down at the targets feet is a issue with training dummies, not spell itself. Sadly most footages show all animation effects on training dummies, on which some effects display incorrectly.
Fair enough. I assumed as much.
All the new animations look fine but the new shadow form looks more like demon fire then shadowy presence, and unless I am looking at it wrong It appears that it is the old void explosion form on all the time, and the new void explosion looks like its animation takes a a bit of showing off to finish which might interfere with casting and hurt up time, unless the animation is merely cosmetic and you can still fling spells while erupting your shadowyness.
They would never change a spell to have a longer cast time just for animation updates. The shadow priest rotation and timing is not changing at all.
Well that's good to hear, it just seemed as tho the transformation animation had some sort of ramp up time instead of being instant.
Now we are just a purple blob, what is the use of putting together a really cool looking gear set if you can't see it. Disappointing. Some of the animations look good but not a huge overall difference JMO

Personally think the new SF is awful. Bad enough our gear is nothing but holy re-skins but it now makes it completely indistinguishable. Honestly, we should get a diff form like druids have and have VE/VT expand upon that form.
I completely agree with the new SF looking awful. It's just an incoherent dark blob. At least the old one made some sense. I guess this is just another little thing to add to the growing list of reasons why I am starting to not like this game.
(although the purple recolor version of the robe works wonders with the
tentacle shoulders from questing

Not for lack of trying. The reason the new Death Grip animations didn't make it in was because throwing the chain made it take about a second longer to deploy, ruining its interrupt potential.
They look cool, but I want MORE. I'd also like the option to make Shadowform passive and remove its visual. It's cooler casting shadow spells in your normal form, and then erupting into Voidform! I also want to see my transmog and character in combat.
