I had a little bit of argument with a ret paladin in a scenario when i played my fury warrior about this,if its needed, who should "tank" and soak damage, ret or warrior? I can go def stance np, but not when he is being a jerk about it. My argument was that if i should tank, he should heal. Def stance hurts my rage generation :)
Lets throw a frost dk into the mix too for arguments sake. Lets say you are 3 ppl, a fury warrior, a ret paladin, and a frost dk. Equal gear levels, who should go def stance/blood presence/righteous fury and grab the aggro?
Then question2, lets say you have real tanks and a real healers in a raid setting, tank dies, cr on cd, who should attempt to tank? warr, ret or fros/unh dk?

In scenarios it really doesn't matter. Everything dies so quickly anyway. Even bosses are nothing.
In a raid setting, you are going to get almost insta gibbed anyway unless you are very lucky or have awesome healers.

Fury with a shield can be pretty awesome, given that you have a decent shield.
But really, limiting it to plate classes only is narrowminded at best. Druids, regardless of spec actually, are pretty decent tempoary tanks with the right talent. Warlocks with Demon Hunting glyph can be pretty awesome too. Shaman can do somewhat well too.
Plate doesn't make you tanky. The right modifiers do. Paladins, DKs and Warriors all have that. Take whoever seems the most tanky. My initial thought, though, would be that a Fury warrior is more suited, because he can tap on a shield and be far more tanky than a 2-hand ret. Or the ret would need both a shield and a 1-hand.

Really Speaking to me whom ever is the best geared should be the tank if you really need a tank.
But really speaking Ret's to me would be the better tank. Self-Heals with talents and LoH and the added bonus of not giving up dps from having to Stance/Pres Change. All we have to do is turn on R. Fury. But really Speaking as Nefashu said you really don't need a tank.

Really?
PS. I'm sorry, that was kind of a jerky thing to do, but I couldn't help teasing you about it.

Nobody should ´tank´ for scenarios.. just like nobody should heal. Doing either one will just slow you down. If ´you´ are smart, most of the damage is avoidable so even if you have aggro the whole time as Fury, you should be avoiding most of the big damage, and things like bloodthirst and impending victory will take care of the rest.
As to the hypothetical.. I would go with Ret also. They have more on-demand heals.

I'm going to go with whoever feels like tanking. If you don't feel like tanking don't be the first person to charge into the fight. Though out of curtsey, if I get into a scenario with two clothies I "tank" things as fury. Even then, if I get too low on health I sort of hang back while they help finish things off.
Usually I never have a problem with someone not wanting to have aggro...I had a tanking spat with a feral druid while running one scenario on my brewmaster monk. Because I was crashing from an energy drink and generally feeling lazy, I just decided to let him have it. He then promptly got his little bear booty handed to him and I ended up tanking any way.

In scenarios, the 'tank' is whoever has the most aggro.
Warriors get a 25% damage reduction by changing stance. DKs get bonus health, bonus armor and a 10% damage reduction in Blood Presence. Druids get bonus health, bonus armor and some tanky abilities in Bear Form.So why not change your spec anyway?

For scenario DK, Warrior and Pally should all stay DPS. Scenario is done faster and no one cares about the spec in scenario to be honest, except if someone if a healer and does nothing all instance since a healer isn't needed, like a tank.

Scenarios are irrelevant, because "tanking" in a scenario mostly consists of not standing in the fire. I was once in a scenario group consisting of three rogues and we had no problems at all.

The only time I worry about getting aggro is if a squishy is getting hit by the boss, I'll throw RF up and hand of salvation on him, or if there's a group mobs, I'll again throw RF up and gather them up so that the dps can AOE them down without getting in trouble. Other than that, I don't worry if they get a mob on them. At this point in the game they should be able to solo any non boss mob or 2 in a scenario.
