Gently, Peter eased the door open and peaked inside.

Duskwood
The stark contrast between clinical bay and what appeared to be a warm personal study was nothing short of blatant. A cozy fire warmed the room, and the man. Garbed like a king, the man did not bother looking away from his book for the sake of Peter's intrusion, "In, or out, pick quickly, I haven't the time to deal with your shenanigans any longer."

The box quivered at being nudged, then, just as quickly, resumed being still.
Gregg shrugged. "Probably something to do with the creature," he said, stating the obvious, primarily for Nimrod's benefit.
Elsa Wolftongue

Elsa shrugged and drew a finger across her throat questioningly, expecting Peter to indicate whether or not he approved.

"Huh...strange," Kalina noted. She went down on her knees in front of the box and the surrounding mess, inspecting it closely. "It's kinda pretty," she said. "I wonder if it's safe to touch."

"Considering the fact I did, my bet's that it is," Gregg commented, "that or I'll turn inside out any minute now."

Kalina raised a single, light-hearted eyebrow at Gregg and proceeded to pick up the box with her uninjured arm. She rose to her feet and eyed the elaborate thing suspiciously.

On closer inspection the object was covered in a series of small, but elaborate, carvings, consisting of what appeared to be a coat of arms and the rest depictions of various monstrous creatures. Of the latter variety there was one that was altogether familiar however, considering how the box had just been removed from its living - or rather unliving - counterpart.

Peter's eyes widened and he shook his head firmly. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves and rapidly went through the available options. The man knew they were there, the way they had used to enter could not be to exit. They were stuck here for now, and though he disliked the idea of speaking to someone involved in what were in those tanks, options were rather...limited. And to finish it all off he thought with a slow exhale, this was likely his best chance to find Irene.
Peter gently opened the door all the way, and stepped inside.

"You've quite the audacity, running amok and spoiling my experiments. How selfish of you, to dare infect the work of your betters with such tomfoolery. Short sighted, blind, impudent whims, aimless and caustic, with no structure, nor reason. Could you even voice why you are truly here? Do not think it vengeance, or even love. No, you are nothing more than a tool, milling about as guided by forces far greater than you. Do you think yourself righteous?
You advocate my death, and do not think me a fool to not know the intent of your dear friend there, yet you do not even know my crimes. I am not industry, shackled by greed and welling in it's own filth. I am not patriotism, blindly marching towards my own death, and the death of the world. I am not nature, growing madly with little rhyme, nor reason. And I am not pride, not a self-devouring ouroboros obsessed with power. I am progress. Focused, directed, and unhalting. I am the agent of which humanity shall grow from, the base, a platform and nothing more, and yet great shall be my labors, and great shall be my gifts. So I ask you now, young Peter Brighthammer," the lord turned and faced the intruder finally, looking down upon him intently.
"You shall decide for yourself, right here, right now, who are you? Are you an agent of anarchy? Are you an agent of madness? Or are you willing to work for a better future?

"So you might think," the lord stated harshly, "And I will do you the charity now to say that you have been manipulated. You were told to stay away, yet you came anyways. Who do you think guided you?"

"I...I don't know. Don't see where you're going with this," Peter blurted out. His face began to grow hot, his hands clenching and whole frame shaking as he continued to speak. "Seems fruitless. Trying to probe me for knowledge. Excuses. But! I only want to get Irene! Don't approve what you're doing, here. Find it sickening, wretched, abhorrent. But didn't come for that. Didn't know it was happening. Just want my friend back!"

"You don't know why? Simple. Because every man should have the right to self-determine. If you truly think it was just a woman that guided you, then you have chosen to dwell in ignorance, and I can help you no farther. If you are so willing to hide from the truth, then so be it. Take her, and go, and do not return," the lord ordered coldly.

Irene looked up at the noise, and stared quietly for a long time. Her eyes glowed faintly green in the dark. She was dressed differently, in a dark silk dress. Her expression was a mix of many emotions, and finally she asked, "...Peter...Why..?
