I discovered this site which allows for the creation, hosting, and playing of tabletop RPG games, namely Dungeons and Dragons, while browsing through the internet. This wonderful site is called
Roll 20
.
I immediately posted a few things about it, asking friends and acquaintances if they would be interested in trying it out with me, and actually got a few responses. I understand that large D&D groups are not the best of things, so recruiting too many more people wouldn't normally be a wise idea, but, this isn't a normal situation. This, being the internet, means that quite possibly, not all of our players would be able to always play on days that we have available, given the large time disparities. Also, life gets in the way sometimes too.
Given the possibility of people who are interested not actually being from Wowhead, I need to find a way to get us all in one place to discuss things, it'll probably involve Google services.
About the actual progress of getting a group together;
People interested + Time Zone
Kris (Me) EST
Arkaen (Wowhead) EST
Boronidze (Wowhead) EST
EdantheDwarf (Wowhead) MST
Aly (Friend of mine) EST
Justin (Friend of mine) EST
Joe (Friend of mine) EST
Current issues:
Setting up common communications,
Setting up times to play (Will be much easier with the communications set up),
Learning how to use the application,
Figuring out how to get people the materials to learn how to play,
Deciding what edition to use, and what books are allowed.
If anyone is interested in this, please feel free to post here. Also, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas or information they feel would be useful for us, don't hesitate to share it. I hope this turns out to be a fun and positive experience :)

Time zones seem to be all EST. What is this sorcery?
Alright Edan, what's yours? You have a chance to break this streak.

Mountain sorry to break the trend.
Haha, no problem, the chances of all of us being in the same time zone (Except for my IRL friends) were slim to begin with. :P

I guess I could give it a shot. Lemme sort out a few things though.

Well people, including me, still need to learn how to use it, and I need to work up a campaign, heh. I'm going on a field trip in school tomorrow so I have time to start jotting down ideas, and I'm out of school until next Tuesday, so there'll be plenty of time for me to do things, I can pair it with doing college stuff.
I suggest anyone that IS interested take a look at the site, read up on things, decide what character they want to play, as well as post input on what edition we should play, including the books we'll use.
I'm going to go with 3.5, because it seems to be the most liked recent one (As well as the one I know best.). As for books, well, it would be a lot... safer to just use the 3 core books, Player's Handbook, DM Boom, and Monster Manual.
I give it till mid December before we'll be able to start, at the latest, provided things remain stable.

I've never played D&D before, but I'd love to join in if you don't mind. I'm CEST (GMT+1), though - so time might be an issue.

Yeah, it might. It's up to you, though.

Alright, so I've finished the first map, learned a few things about the application, started thinking of the story, acquired some 3.5 books online of which I could host on my Dropbox account, drew bits of the next map on paper, set up the Google + circle thingy, and probably did a few other things that I forgot right now.
