But the only thing I ever get that's better my previous weapon (a staff) is a staff.

Yeah but lucky thanks to the power of Transmog, you can make that staff look however you'd like from the myriad of staff models out there.

True dat.
And that first staff you get as a reward from your class quest is pretty slick; and very much inline with the MoP aesthetic. ;)

Indeed, but it's just the fact that I am using staves all day every day.

Which really, is no different then any other class at this point in the game lol; all specs have specific weapons that are best for them. Could always try to find a spear that is equal to your staff stat wise.

I think the problem here, is that currently, from what I've seen, at all levels is just better to use a 2handed weapon, than it is to dualwield.
True, in terms of DPS both are the same, since thanks to "Way of the Monk" Auto-attack damage hits 40% harder when dualwielding, and 40% faster when wielding a staff or pole, but the problem is the stats.
Currently you could take 2 weapons ilvl 463, and dual-wield them, but then you get a staff ilvl 463 and this staff will have more stamina, and more AGI than the 2 onehanders combined.
IMO the stats should be the same when combined. It isn't, so monks are forced to go either staff or pole, dualwielding is just not viable at max level (While leveling its irrelevant due to heirlooms, but even then, heirloom staff > Heirloom maces x 2)
I haven't seen this problem with other classes. For example on my DK either DW frost or 2hand frost are equally good, and the stats on the weapons are more balanced.

If you are into Archaeology, the
Spear of Xuen
will hold you from 85 to 90 until/if you find a heroic (or better) replacement.
I know my paladin and DK enjoy it very much.
