Why is there so much incomplete data about MoP?

Hey,
I've wanted to look some things up lately and figured that very many things on wowhead about MoP are as incomplete as they can get. Mostly this is about drop rates or drop locations. Also things like contents of the new Junkbox. Why is this still so incomplete after more than 2 weeks of MoP being live? Are there not enough ppl using the wowhead client?

Could you please let us know some more specific examples? Vague examples can lead to confusion--the junkbox is an exception we already knew about (due to it being class specific and a skill that needed to be leveled for said class), but we have fakelooted a lot of items to bosses and we are also getting new data from the client daily. :)

Are site features like maps or quest tracking for MoP coming in the near future?

If you want specific examples, herbs, mines, pools are all missing large chunks of nodes. I just uploaded data about an hour ago (1:00 AM PST, October 13 2012), as I have every few days. Just being curious, I looked for Green Tea Leaf on the site, and I have marked with GatherMate2 dozens and dozens of herb nodes that aren't showing in your database. And that is merely one herb of many. The fishing pools are even more lacking, and on every continent. Westfall, Northrend (the entire continent), and many other zones are missing a combined hundreds and hundreds of nodes of various types.
Does the data go through some kind of verification first, or is the Looter supposed to update WowHead automatically? If the latter, then something is not working correctly.
In any case, I will continue to use the Looter. If you want exact zones, coordinates, and missing data, I can upload my saved variable file somewhere for your team.

Does the data go through some kind of verification firstThere apparently is a certain threshold, requiring some number of different users providing the data, before it is confirmed as actual by the database. Also, the database may receive updates in chunks every few days instead of instantaneously, which may delay the data appearing even further.

I've uploaded a lot of data about MoP Junkboxes, still the number of 6511 "openings" doesnt change.

How long does it take on average until my data is processed and goes live?

OH, 1 hour after i posted this, it's 8721 "openings" of the box.
Still - the contents which can be looted do not match with things that I found off them boxes. Rings and Amulets are missing, also the epic dagger, which I did loot with Client enabled. ;/
Looks like the items need too many validations (maybe 5+ users?) until they finally appear on wowhead. :(( This way niches will always be incomplete for a long time T_T

What is also missing, is german Unit names. And actually most things in other languages than english. It's well over 2 weeks after the release and as you can see here
http://de.wowhead.com/search?q=krik#npcs:0-3+1
Every mob in the "Krik" Filter doesn't have its translation.
I really think the threshold for the needed validations is way too high compared to the ppl using the wowhead looter.
It should really be lowered...
That's just my 2 cents

From whats been explained previously, I've gotten the understanding that the uploaded data doesn't go live automatically, but requires a datapush, which isn't done automatically, but manually, from my understanding of it.

Correct, data pushes are done manually in batches every XXX days. XXX changes depending on how long a patch has been live, our workload, and fixes that require a data push.

Any idea when we can expect data on fishing?
I'd really like to see if zones make a diff for the Nat Quest fish!

Any idea when we can expect data on fishing?Wowhead never had percentages for fishes caught, I think, just the mere locations. For info on catch chances, better head to
Els Anglin

Ok, didn't know about that, but still, Els is probably a more reliable place for that data anyway, as the Wowhead addon cannot determine whether something was caught in a pool or not.

Can some offical from Wowhead tell us how many validations the uploaded data needs? Most units on the german wowhead still do not have their translations. I can not imagine that so few ppl with german client acually use the wow looter. Are the required validations something like 100+ per unit/item?

The translation issue should be fixed now (will be fully fixed in 1 day due to cache).

Here's the tr;dr version: Datamining does not account for the majority of WoWhead's data. Actually playing the game contributes the majority of such data, and players have only have only been playing MoP for a few weeks. As such, to quote Ash from
Alien
, "we're still collating".
The fishing pools are even more lacking, and on every continent.
The client is incapable of tracking the locations of fishing pools. It can only record the location of the bobber when a player loots an item from fishing. I'm not too sure why it's set up this way - maybe it would be impossible for any legal addon to record the pools, or maybe the programmers just can't be arsed to make such an improvement to the client.
