Wowhead is a great site and its database is without rival. Unfortunately, said database also suffers from one very humongous problem: outdated dataz, particularly concerning item drop rates and mob locations (for example, all of the scourge in the Deathknell area got moved around in Cataclysm). Since there's really not a good way of being able to tell when such dataz were last changed, and therefore which dataz are current and which aren't, there's only one viable solution to this problem:
Take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
With MoP just 2 weeks away, Sept. 25 would be the perfect time for such a purge. I also propose that such a purge be done with every expansion pack from now on.
Note: this obviously only applies to dataz that are gathered from the Wowhead addon.

I'm always happy to see an Aliens reference but I think what you're suggesting would be the very epitome of what is perhaps a phrase local to me - "don't throw the baby out with the bath water".
Sure there's some stuff that's outdated and this is always most starkly clear when a new expansion is upon us but we have tools in place for you to help us remove the bad info such as "out of date" buttons on all comments (this is the perfect option for high rated comments that are now rendered misleading), report buttons on all comments and a "Feedback" link on every page.

Unfortunately removing data creates more problems than it resolves. The actual amount that is wrong is fairly low, probably 5% if that and it lowers all the time with fixes we fix every few months. Removing comments, locations, and more would genuinely make our database a shell rather than an information place. It took years to get this much data and it would take years to get it again, so I'd rather have some wrong info than have no info for anything.

This feels like the GM advice "delete the Interface and WTF folders".
Sure, the problem is (might be) somewhere in there, but by deleting everything indiscriminately, you're also deleting way more good, necessary stuff that took ages to create.

Use the report function, n00b
You know, I'd totally do that, except that I specifically mentioned that we have no way of being sure if and when the drop rates change.
But the information that we do have took so long to gather!
For the record, we also need a hell of a lot more people to use the addon. The current rate of data-gathering is far too low.
And how does the addon work with the new AoE looting anyway?
I'm always happy to see an Aliens reference
There's a Batman reference too, but it's not one of the more well-known lines.
