Can not add friends or other players with there battle net email

When i go to add other players or friends all it ask is for there toons name. Iv noticed on my friends accoutns when they go to add friends or other players it asked them for there battle net email or wow name. Why does my account not asked that?

Are you on a full account or a trial account?
If you are just on the free to play 20 level trial account, that feature is not available. If you are on a full account, that is something you need to contact Blizzard about.

What did they say about there being nothing they could do? Did they say it was a bug they were working on but couldn't do anything immediately, or that there was something specifically wrong with your account? Did they say they couldn't override the parental controls? I've never had a customer service person tell me that even if my product was broken there was nothing they could do an no explanation of why.
