Insane in the Membrane
I was wondering, if many achievements are going account wide. Would it be possible to get bloodsail on 1 toon whilst doing Steamwheedle on another and still get the meta?

More then likely not, since the reps aren't shared across an account.

Taking this from the above:
Some achievements are "meta achievements."
These are achievements that require you to get other specific achievements. An infamous example is "What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been." These achievements generally ARE account-wide. If one character earned Noble Gardener and another character earned The Flame Warden, then your account would get Long Strange Trip. (Otherwise it would be weird: it would look as if you had the sub-achievements, but you wouldn't have the meta-achievement). Even though you need Explore Thousand Needles on one character, all of your characters can contribute to Explore Kalimdor.
Long Strange Trip is on par with Insane in my opinion, but I don't anyone will really know until release unless another Blue/Blog is released concerning this.

Insane is
not
a meta-achievement.
Metas are made up of other
achievements
and check them off as you obtain each one. Those would count and be shared under the account-wide system.
The components of Insane are not achievements, they are
criteria
. Criteria (and progress toward them) are not shared across the account. You need to gain them all on one character.
would be delighted if I could do Ravenholdt rep on a rogue instead of... anything else. But I'm not counting on it.
You just need a rogue to
get
the lockboxes via pickpocketing. You can turn them in with any character.
