not to mention shows like My little pony which also boasts an all-female cast (to my knowledge there are no guys there) and it has been a smashing success far beyond the "little girl" demographic, so why exactly are they so hesitant, beats me, I mean really, do they think we're still in the 70's where boys were meant to watch Dragon Ball and girls were meant to watch Sailor Moon? (I watched both, but I digress)
Here is the interview
where the show creators explained how hesitant was nick to green-lit this show based EXCLUSIVELY on the fact that the protagonist was a tan-skinned girl.
It goes to show the level of maturity of TV network executives, applying double-standards on this day and age.

I didn't read them being hesitant about it, I read they were worried that boys wouldn't watch the show about a girl. And I can see where they're coming from. But they're mistaking having a girl as the main character for the entire show to be girly. Something most young males won't relate to. But since LoK isn't like that, they didn't have anything to worry about.

To be fair, if Korra wasn't an action girl - it wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful as it is.It's funny they say that, when As Told by Ginger and the Wild Thornberry's were such hits.

There are male supporting characters in MLP:FiM, and Spike is part of the mane cast. Also, I would be hesitant to say "a smashing success" - it's really a cult fandom that is only really influential online.

So had a thought today(know it won't happen but you never know), would actually be interesting if they show us different times in Korra's life, rather then stay focused on just one period in time like they did for Aang's books(of course, that was plot relevant but still, the flash backs in the first Korra book were cool). Could have the next book about her 20's or so, showing us the rest of the world and the troubles she has to deal with, and the last part could be about the end of her life, showing us her family and the like.

Well I'm not sure about showing her at different ages, but the next books will have her traveling and seeing her family as well as Bumi and Kya. They even said that Bumi will be more of a main character, probably meaning they'll use his ship to travel around on.
So they already got half of what you thought of lol.
As for the other part, it would be interesting to see what happens later in her life. I know I would like to see more of adult Aang, seeing Korra grow and how she deals with being the Avatar wouldn't be all that bad.

is it so much to ask that someone uploads the dance of aang and katara from the episode "The Headband" without adding a lame song to it? jesuschrist, I've been looking for almost 2 hours a clip of that dance that is just that, a clip, with the original audio and original song.
But nope, all I got is a billion vids that replace the audio with X or Y song.
good god =S

I wonder what Zuko will look like. As he's said to still be alive and wandering the world. I wonder how he'll have changed. Will he be like Iroh was in the Last Airbender? Definately a kick-ass old man for sure.
i cant believe it took me a 2nd watch of the show to realise its zuko's statue is standing in the middle of the town (with a flame in its hand). I also missed the cabbage salesmans statue.
Something i realised the first time around though
the equalists had more trouble dealing with the airbenders than any other benders. Anytime we see them fighitng airbenders, they're getting their asses kicked.
The only way they managed to get tenzin twice was overwhelming him with multiple tanks or surprise tactics (those electrifying lasso's didnt get him a 2nd time when the window cleaners went after him; the 2nd time he was facing off against 6 tanks all at once)
And we saw how the chi blockers and lieutenant were outmatched against the children.
What i realise is, that the chi blockers and the other equalists have most likely been heavily trained in how to fight fire, earth and water benders, especially metal benders as they comprise the police force. But they have no idea how to deal with air benders as there is no real knowledge of airbending techniques and combat styles. Its been almost 200 years since they were wiped out and theres only (now) a handful of new ones. Not counting the avatar.

If you didn't mention this, it would have been exactly what I would have said.
Since there was only Aang and Tenzin for a while, then just Tenzin, that didn't give the Equalists much chance to fight other Airbenders.
As for what Zuko might look like, I would imagine something similar to
Roku
. Maybe photo-shop a scar on him and you'll have Zuko.

Also concerning the fact that children of chi-locked benders would have been benders.
Amon was on the steps to becoming a tyrant. The influence of his father had contorted the good person he could have been and even if some part of him believed in his equalist movement, his actions and manipulations show that he was simply using those ideals to sway the unfortunate masses to his bidding. "leave belief to the peons".
His main aim was power. once he had power and his idealogy started spreading across the world, increasing his influence, it wouldnt matter about the children. Infact given how fanatical his forces would have become by that, that discovery would probably be a worldwide upheavel out-rivaling his rise to power (either the city or the world and probably even the 100 years war). By that time the idealogy would be crashing forward with its own inertia, even if Amon was stopped, his ideas would have gone on. And an Idea, good or bad, is bullet-proof. or bender-proof as it were.
i cite every fanatical group as evidence. the logic of "oh hey the children are benders, this isnt going to work" would have only led them to become desperate and commit attrocities.
Amon was stopped before his followers turned into such people. Infact i wouldnt be surprised if anti-bending sentiment and the seeds he laid still hold some presence in the city or the world. It was based on credible arguements. Tenzin should take the lead and set up better representation for non-benders, specially with the oppurtunities the present situation has offered. Sokka was a non-bending councilmen of the water-tribe after all. And the tribes are more than just their benders.
