EverQuest 2 gets facial tracking... what would happen if it made it into WoW?

Sort of relevant enough to not be off-topic: EQ2 is apparently getting
facial tracking
and VOICE filters. So if you speak in-game, instead of your normal voice, you're heard as an elf.
This is so bizarre that I couldn't help but think of it in a World of Warcraft setting. How many people would we see picking their nose during a raid? What if you were eating dinner?
Furthermore, who thought this up? Will other MMORPGs do it?
A fancy new facial tracking system is on its way to fantasy MMO EverQuest 2 to help make the game more immersive, developer Sony Online Entertainment has announced.
Dubbed SOEmote, it uses "revolutionary" motion tracking software created by UK animation outfit Image Metrics to map your facial movements onto your in-game character via a webcam.
On top of that, it will also add a filter to your voice so that other players hear you as the character you play as, whether that be an ogre, a troll or an elf.
Clever stuff.
See the demonstration below for a look at exactly how it works
.
Sony hasn't confirmed when it will go live, though more news is expected during E3 next week.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##

I'm sure more and more will pick it up.
But I somehow doubt that WoW will; I'd really rather not see a grinning male face staring at me from the body of a female toon lol...though, guess that will kill a lot of the whole 'guys who pretend to be girls to scam people' thing.

This technology finding its way into wow seems like a long shot given we all seem to still use vent etc. as the ingame voice program is shall we say somewhat lacking.

In Rainbow Six Vegas for the xbox360 whenever you would talk into the mic you mouth in the game would move to the voice.
I also agree with what Adamsm said, would be creepy to see some of the combinations.

As for the facial tracking, I look at it like this:
How the hell often do I look at another character's face? Almost never. Will this technology provide a good reason to do so? It'll be novel for the first hour or two, but after that I'll simply forget it exists.
...and for the voice filter? I prefer to know my guildmates by their voices. We've been running together long enough that I can identify who's speaking without fail. Why the hell would I want to subject myself to deciphering which orc or goblin I just heard speak? I wouldn't.
I just don't believe either of these technologies are fit for the current WoW scene aside from hardcore RPers. I'm fairly confident most people are going to forget about facial tracking within a month, and anyone who relies on knowing who is speaking on voice chat during raids is going to insist on not using voice filters.
I don't play EQ2 so I'm not qualified to judge how these technologies will fit into that game or how they'll fit into the game's social structure, but I'm willing to bet Sony is sinking money into a project that will provide little financial return.

Facial expression recognition might have uses for RP and maybe duels (PvP where you can zoom in and don't have to take note of the "greater picture") but for standard MMO/RPG play? Nah.
Voice filters? As far as I know, there are dozens of fan-made e.g. TS plugins for different games, this is merely an official one (and will probably only work with the built-in voice chat)

I think this is a nice RP feature, but I don't think the graphics are good enough in WoW to get much use of this feature, even if they implemented. I think now that it exists, though, it will start to show up in more and more MMO's.
