If they did that WoW would have an M rating, which would mean less people player resulting in less money being made.

I agree that's possible.
I think the biggest reason is that there are very few humanoid pets and it seems a waste of resources for them to get their own classification, passives, abilities etc.

They never showed them getting hacked up in the movie. They didn't show anything gory happening to the kids. If they did it would of had a much higher rating.
I like adventure and humor. But kids mutilating one another is neither adventurous or humorous.
