If you're on Vista/Win7, the first step to solve Updater problems is always: right-click, run as administrator :)

How long did you wait on the little Updating Files window?
I had the same problem; open Launcher, start downloading, error, opens to Updating Files window, nothing happening for a long time; and it just now finished "updating files" (even though the bar wasn't moving) and opened the Launcher and is ready to play.
So I'm pretty sure it's downloading files in the background there, even though the bar doesn't move, because when it was open it was slowing down all my other internet browsing/streaming. And when I closed it everything went back to normal speed.
So I'd just give it however long downloading 18GB would take on your connection; then if nothing has happened file a ticket?

Hi Guys,
I have been given access to the MoP Beta, but I'm having problems.
I download the first file from my account and launch it.
The launchest installs and starts downloading the game. The bar progresses till the game becomes playable. After some time I get an error message in a new window. I close everything and relaunch it and another thing happens. A window opens saying updating files. It looks like the download is continuing, but I left the computer on left my place to do some errands, came back and it did not progress. I uninstalled everything, deleted all folders, redownloaded and same error again.
Any idea?
Thank you!
Make sure you enable the Showing of Hidden Files and go into ProgramData under your C:/ drive and delete the battle.net folder before trying to reinstall.
This often fixes these types of problems.

I have tried doing as you said sas148, but I still get multiple errors.

Are these Fatal Errors you're encountering after already having beta installed and entered the game world? If so, all beta testers are currently getting these from time-to-time. I get them frequently, they're annoying and varied. I always just relaunch, login and hope for the best or I just take the rest of the night off.
However, if that's not the case and you're getting these during the initial install, I'd suggest posting these errors in the Beta Technical Support forum for your respective region.

Restart you pc. you will have to press a button, i dont remember which one, but it will bring you to a startup menu. you will have a few options. they susally are 1)start up normal, 2) safe mode, and 3) safe mode with some networking. you will want the safe mode with some networking. what Safe mode does is it only runs the pc with the bare essentials. helpfull to try and get rid of viruses and such. there may be another program interfering with the Beta that is causing problems which was the case with alot of people.
