Wasn't there some sort of 12 month subscription option you had to sign up for? My guess is you'll pay for 12 months of WoW, even if you quit after four months, and D3 is yours to keep right from the start.
That's the simplest way to do it, and the best way to achieve what seems to be the goal of this: keep people stuck playing WoW.

That's exactly what I meant... it's still free months. Buying the CE would cost $100 USD, they're giving you four free months (~$60 USD), so you only pay half price for the CE technically.
Yeah, but then you're paying for two copies of D3, and only getting one. I'd encourage people to think of it as paying $40 for the CE extra stuff, and paying the remaining $60 for your 4 months, and that this is Blizz's way of not really thinking through their incentives fully.
Well since the pass one is only a digital download, you really aren't getting two copies. You are getting a hard copy and getting compensated for not getting the digital one.
And if you buy the hard copy, you can still download it from online anyway as long as you have the key on your battle.net account.
Pay for 12 months of wow w/o pass and D3 CE is 12 months of wow and a D3 CE.
Pay for pass, get 12 months of wow, then buy D3 CE get 4 more months and D3 CE. So you actually are getting 4 months free because the cost will still be the same.

I will prob sign up so long as it is charged monthly since I'll be saving the $50-60 of having to buy D3 retail.
it's charged at the same pace as your current subscription. All it does is lock the "unsubscribe" option for a year.
And yes, that was my reasoning too. Free D3 = $50+, free flying mount = $20+, so that's combined almost a 50% discount on your year of WoW. So even were you to stop playing after 6 months because you get addicted to D3, you'd still have got your money's worth.

yes, you dedicate yourself to pay for WoW for a year from the date you sign up. Any game time left on your current subscription is credited towards that year.
Any game time added to your subscription during that year is also credited (so if you have a monthly payment plan, and someone gifts you a 2 month time card, you can add that and it's credited to the year).
You get your free mount when 4.3 goes life, D3 at release (so no having to preorder it from some store, then having to wait for weeks or months because the number of preorders far exceeds the supply).

I spammed the poop out of that sign-up button as soon as it was announced at the con. But Battlenet was swamped and it took ages to go through. ):
Only to find out I dont get the mount til 4.3!
Also dont forget the perks for buying the CE of Diablo and then attaching that to your account.
