As someone who try logged on today and got the prepaid message, Then noticed I have no money until the end of next week, WOW is expensive :(
Usually though the 12.99 isn't too bad though.

I usually compare it to a trip to the movies, which can easily add up to around 15 €. For that, I get ~2 hours of entertainment, which I'm more than willing to pay.
From there, the rhetorical question arises:
Do I play WoW more than 2 hours per month?
Thus, I find it very acceptable :)

At least once a month I don't go out because I could be doing other things, WoW included and I don't need to drink every damn night. Though it's nice.
Average night out? £30.
WoW? £9 or so.
Yeh, it's worth it for me.

In my circle of friends, $15 isn't expensive at all. You can't even go out to dinner for that (unless you're doing some chain restaurant 2 for 20 promo, or something). It's 2 drinks at the bar, and most of my friends don't stop at 2 drinks. At 50 cents a day, you're getting several hours of playtime for less than it costs to start up an arcade game for 7-8 minutes. So I don't think it's expensive to play at all. If you're someone who doesn't have the money for that dinner or 2 drinks, though, I can see how it would seem like more.

$15 per month is not considered to be a large sum of money in the United States, no.

Depends on your economic situation. If you're struggling living paycheck to paycheck, maybe paying for an online game isn't the best thing to do. For me personally, it saves me a ton just not having to go out all the time. $15 isn't even a movie night, or dinner out, or even hitting the bar. If I stayed home instead of going out once a month to play WoW then I'm already ahead.
In terms of the costs vs country GDP and all that. Isn't it cheaper for the "less wealthy" nations? I know that they pay different rates in China and other countries where $15 US would be considered a lot of money. But I guess if you're part of the EU than it kinda sucks if your country got the shaft in terms of monetary value when you joined. But that's a different topic all together.

Hm. I am from Slovakia, and even here 13 euros is not considered a huge amount of cash. Pretty much everything can cost you more over a month. Alcohol? Definitely. Cigarettes? Definitely. Candy? Possibly. Could go on /shrug.

What.
More like £60 over here. :(

I use(d) that same logic :)
I would use that logic, but I'm paying £15 a month for unlimited cinema, so... :P

If I am taking my wife and son out to like dinner and a movie or something similar I expect to spend no less than $100 easily. A random trip to like walmart costs me $50 most of the time. $15 a month to play a game after a stressful day is money well spent.

I like to think it saves me money, since i'm not spending money on something else when playing wow....
Besides. 13 bucks for a month of wow is better than 60 bucks for an xbox game you'll throw out after one playthrough.
Retarded logic perhaps...but works for me.
May be just me, but I pay monthly for wow and games on top of that.. WoW just simply isnt enough to quench my gaming appetite alone.. but it can do for a while.

In addition to WoW there's internet services and computer equipment to pay. I remember the East Europe gold farmers. So yes WoW can be about an amount of money with the magnitude of salary.

This will most probably answer your question. Well put.
