So I seem to notice that latley zombies have been poping up everywhere in tv, movies, video games, comics, novels, ect.
And why not, who dosnt love zombies? Not only do they have the exceptionaly grusome and gory deaths to sate the blood lust of the average splatterfest horror fan, they also sate the phycological fixes of your deeper horror fans. Zombies are the scariest type of monster because of what they represent, social conformity, loss of order and society, they even represent what most people are most afraid of, death.
So my question gos out to my fellow zombie lovers out there, what are your favorite zombie movies/books/comics/video games? and why?

Ill list my top five:
1)
The Walking Dead:
First off lemmi say I am not talking about the TV show on AMC, I have yet to form an opinion on that. I am of course refering to the source material, the comic book written by Robert Kirkman, and when I say comic book I use that term loosley because this series is more like a work of great art than your average comic. This is one of the darkest comics I ever read, but it is also one of the best, when you read this series from the begining to its current point, you can really see how society as well as the central characters regress both mentaly and physicly to much darker and more brutal versions of themselvs to adjust to life in a zombie world.
2)
Zombieland:
Contrary to the darker first choice I chose the light hearted Zombieland as my second. This movie makes me laugh my ass off every time I see it, and brings to light one of Woody Harrelsons best preformances to date. Not to mention it gave us one of the greatest catch phrases in Hollywood history "Time to nut up or shut up".
3)
Quarentine:
Nothing particularly memorable about the movie itself, but the reason I love Quarentine so much is because its probobly the most realisic zombie movie ever made. In most zombie movies no matter how much you love it, you cant help but think "baah this would never happen", but in Quarentine you can really feel like whats happening on screen is plausable.
4)
Nazi Zombies:
The mini game introduced in Call of Duty: World at War, and later brought back for Black Ops. This game kind of reminds me of portal, it started out as some small little mini game and wound up stealing the show, this is one of the most addicting games ive ever played, and comming from a wow player thats saying something. In the game you find yourself in a small boarded up room holding off waves and waves of undead using everything from a single shot bolt action rifle, to heavy machine guns, to an alien ray gun. If that wasnt awesome enough, the great Steven Blum appears in the sequal as the primary voice actor.
5)
Marvel Zombies
This twisted elsworld story of the Marvel universe being infected by a zombie plague, turning all the Marvel super heroes we know and love turned into ravenous flesh eating monsters. Whats more awesome than Spiderman eating aunt May and Mary Jane? or a zombie Hulk shrinking back into Bruce Banner and having devoured limbs pop out of his stomach?
Only an Evil Dead crossover!

HammerFall just came out with Infected, and I'm itching to get my hands on it. Alas, I must wait for June 6.
Otherwise, I like zombies in WoW, RE3 (technically they aren't zombies, but meh) WWZ/The Zombie Survival Guide, LoZ and Halo.

It's demons, not the walking dead.

Yea I know their not technicly undead, but its still more zombie like than 28 days later, and a lot of people consider that a Zombie movie as well. I never actualy saw REC but from what I understand the American version is a pretty loyal remake, although the sequal will have nothing to do with the REC sequal, which I beleive is where they get into the demon thing.

Go watch REC and you'll realize that Quarantine is pure drek.

I love zombies. I really do. Walking Dead is one of my favorite shows and I patiently await season 2. But one of the issues I have with zombie franchises coming out is that they're really not all that scary anymore. It just seems like people are content with zombies being sprinkled about. There's not that much terror. I got more out of
Zombie Fallout
than L4D2. No one else seems to say anything so I assume I've just become desensitized to them.
Walking Dead seems to capture that though. That sense of being overwhelmed is shown tremendously. The scene where he's stuck in the tank, the whole time in my head I was saying "omgomgomghe's$%^&edholycrapnowayinhell!" L4D2 seems to go through the motions of run from Point A to B. I feel that way so much, that I'd much rather play the first one instead. Part of the terror factor from the first one is that it isn't as well lit. Something could pop out of nowhere and catch me by surprise. But in the second one, I could see a zombie coming from a mile a mile away because it was in
broad daylight
.
On the topic of zombies, here's some Dead Island
gameplay
if anyone's interested.
Quarantine: I thought it was rabies? Well, that's the conclusion I came to at least. I only ever watched it once.

It was based on a spanish movie called REC, which is pretty much the same as Quarentine, but in REC 2 it gets all exorsist and they turn out to be demons
Quarentine 2 is starying focused on the rabies thing

At the end of REC you found out it was Demons....trust me on that one....../shiver
But again, the remake is sad compared to the original.

Just like the Grudge and that one movie about ghosts living through wires and stuff. (It's supposed to be scarier in Japan because on how much they rely on technology over there.)

Aye, Ju-on and Ringu are far better then the Grudge and the Ring. And REC is Spanish not Japanese heh.

I LOVE zombie movies. Lately, I like the funny ones more than anything else- seems like the "serious" zombie movies have taken a back seat to the intentionally cheesy ones. I have a lot of favorites that are mainstream, but some recommendations for fans of the genre, which are easy to miss because they're not all that main-stream, are:
Undead
(I think this one is from New Zealand or Australia).
Hard Rock Zombies
(funny for the sheer ridiculousness of it)
Fido
(so much win)
Feeding the Masses
(I liked the "commercials" in it a lot- it seems like something that people would do. There was an over-the-top scene that completely killed the immersion for me, which they added for shock value, but other than that it was pretty fun. Also, I have a family member in the cast, so I have to plug it :)
In terms of All- Time favorites,
Planet Terror
is definitely in there, as well as the 1990 re-make of
Night of the Living Dead

Resident Evil!
Not really
I
do
love The Walking Dead though, and I'm impatiently awaiting season 2, the show's actually very decent, as opposed to most zombie movies/shows.
I love the diversity in the zombie-genre though, in some movies it's a form of mutated virus, in some movies it's aliens turning everyone into zombies (okay, maybe not really), in some movies the zombies are mindless and terribly amusing and fun to watch, while in some movies they're nothing more than mad animals that really creep you out.
I guess that's part of the fun.

O.o
I just had a dream tonight that I was attacked by zombies. On a mountain. That had a railroad for some reason.
And I thought it couldn't get any creepier...

I prefer the original Night of the Living Dead; the remake isn't bad, but the original was just more freaky.
