What I'm saying is that he's drawing every single religion in the world and labeling them "religion" then proceeding to talk crap about them, using examples that aren't even part of some religions.
It's just stupid.

Lol, welcome to any discussion of Religion vs Atheism? Mind, most of Wowhead is good about not casting the wide net over everything, but some...well, not so much heh.

I'm fairly sure that the only religions that actually discourage their use is Catholicism, and maybe Protestantism.
But what about ethnic religions, and Wicca, and etc etc. There are so many religions that you cannot just lump them all together and make broad strokes about all of them. If you have a problem with one, then say it, but don't blame all other religions for problems you've had, and don't state your views as fact.

Organized religion isn't my cup of tea. It's not bad, it's just not for me.

Actually, you can. :P
1. That they are tediologies, have notions of a higher purpose.
2. That they seek to explain everything.

I'll say that some form of religion was neccecary for the human race to progress past barbarianism.
The people who wrote the Bible may have just been trying to keep people civilized. I mean, what better way than to make people behave than to scare them into thinking that they go to hell if they sin?
1. Pride
2. Greed
3. Envy
4. Wrath
5. Lust
6. Gluttony
7. Sloth
By coming up with the concept of 7 deadly sins, it would have made for a primitive, but extremely effective alternative for law in an otherwise lawless time. However, now that we have law and civilized society, religion is becoming more and more obsolete.

First of all, I didn't say my point of view was a fact, all the whole paragraph started with a "In my own opinion...". So you can agree or not with me, that's about you.
Secondly, every type of christianity (catholic, protestant, anglican, evangelical, jehovah's witnesses, etc.) follows this and these are the religions that I mainly talk about (and they have the biggest quantity of followers around the world). I don't know much about buddhism, islam or hinduism. So yeah, I'm not referring to them.

ORLY! *checks* Apologies.
So yeah, I'm not referring to them.
Then say Christianity in general. Also, Mormonism doesn't say you can't use contraceptives.

I don't. I agree with you that that's probably it's intention, but even in religious documentation there was civilization before organized religion.

If they were wrong about DNA, we wouldn't have a gene therapy for people with sickle cell disease.
I'm fairly sure they don't want to cure that, as it prevents malaria.
No, look at the disclaimer below.
Alright. The post seemed a little confusing.
Also, heliocentricism is
HERESY!
Even if sickle cell anemia does prevent malaria, monthly (or more often depending on the severity) painful blood transfusions are worth the slight risk of getting malaria. Look at the symptoms of it.

Which is why I was referring to heterozygous sickle cell, which comes with the benefits but doesn't really have the symptoms.

Which had their own religions; there is a reason the first Commandant is about having no other gods before Him heh.

I think this is an analogy taken way too far. Right now you're arguing about malaria, not religion.

Yep, sorry for that.

Sure, but take say, Norse mythology. That wasn't exactly about educating the masses and creating morals, more a bunch of kick-ass tales used to explain the world. And be badass.

And kill stuff.
Seriously, I think half of their myths were just so they could talk about killing stuff.

Well, if you died heroically, you would be going to Valhalla, if you died a coward, Hel would have your soul for all eternity....And of course the Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese(which people still believe in), Buddhism, and others existed before the writing of the Bible, and some of them still exist now a days.
