Flipping through the manual for FFXIII-2 though, it's looking promising. I'm still disappointed by the removal of Limit Breaks.
Eh, I don't know, 7-10 had them, but the limit system in 12 wasn't worth it as you could get more for your buck just by using MP rather then wasting it on them. And 6 had the completely random Desperation attack, but that was almost impossible to activate.

My primary FF lifetime is 7-10 though. I mean, I've finished 1/2/4/Tactics as well, but it never really seemed like a big deal. After re-playing FF7, it's made me remember all the locations in FF13 where I wished I could have saved up a big limit break for use.

Yeah, I've hit a few points like that too....but at the same time, I remember some of the completely useless and annoying as hell Limits to pull of(look at the randomness of Tifa, the pita that were Auron's, Zell's input options, and Quina's Trance mode((god that thing was useless))), so not seeing them just doesn't effect me like it used to.....and like I said, 12's Quickenings were just a waste most of the time, since it blew all of your mana in one go...well, unless you were lucky enough to chain it just right to keep refilling the charges and go endlessly(pulled that off once with Vaan, Penelo and Balthier: Had the Quickenings going to take out 3/4 of the bosses health).

You didn't like Zell's? That was the most OP limit break in all of FF, if you ask me.
Admittedly on the PC, I had my rotations down to 0.2 sec gaps, so if he was hitting for 9999 and had a 10 sec limit break, I could do as much as 500k damage.

Zell's were cool, such as his run around the world attack, but the inputs were still a pain in the ass....but not as bad as Squall's if you had a bad PS1 controller, cause then the trigger was nearly impossible to pull off(and I still hit an issue every once in a while with Squall/Ultimecia in Dissidia).
Of course, with Staggers in 13, you have a semi-limit break, since you start hitting the enemies for a @#$% ton of damage.

True, I suppose.
Just a note on that though - you may not always want to stagger an opponent, or at least, you may be interested to keep him/her on a high chain without staggering them, because after the stagger finishes, they drop back to 100%. I've felt very comfortable bringing a big target's chain up to 750% and switching to three Commando classes and enjoying the consistently big damage.

Heh right. And was reading the TVTropes page for FXIII-2(yeah I couldn't help it) but apparently the Monster allies do get Limit Break attacks....and they've done away with the stupid; Oh no, the leader has died, time to give you a game over! Now, long as Serah or Noel are up, you'll have a chance to revive the fallen...but if they both go down, it's over, since I guess the monsters realize if they bring you back, they'll probably end up infused to create a better monster at some point lol.

Oops, I forgot to post. Was playing last weekend for a short while. Monster limit breaks suck, massively. I actually think it's higher DPS not to do anything about them. Might be that there's something else I need to learn about it first, though, or that I need to level them up.

I don't really like the monster system in general. I mean, it's kind of cool that it's FF meets Pokémon, I guess, if that's what you wanted. I'd have preferred another main character to be playable (even if it was Mog), but oh well. And I still don't know how magic has become more widespread. Something about an inner crystal? That makes no sense. :|
However, I DO like the cinematic action stuff, it makes scenes a little less like "oh, I'm just doing !@#$ all for 20 minutes waiting for Lightning/Vanille/other to reminisce" and the combat system in general is a bit more streamlined. The graphics are oviously beautiful, and it seems like Squee have put a bit more effort into the gameplay. I don't feel as hampered manually inputting commands compared to just spamming the x button. >.>
Overall, I likey though. But I guess I'm kind of a Squee fanboy.

I couldn't disagree more, from my experience so far. The cinematic action stuff is incredibly irritating for me, as it just suddenly jumps out with little-to-no warning, and has no practical relevance a lot of the time. You can't just sit back and appreciate the cinematics. The irony is, the graphics generally are actually a
backwards
step from FFXIII - character definition and overall quality is down significantly, and you can't enjoy the best cinematics (on-par viewing with the best of FFXIII) because you're too busy nervously waiting for the next action point and staring at the left/right centre sides of the screen to see what's next.
That, and the plot is... questionable. I'll hold off on a more judgemental set of thoughts until I get further into the game though. So far, overall, it's been a bit of a disappointment for my girlfriend and I, relative to FFXIII.

Like pet!Lightning. :P I don't know why I spoilt the ending for myself but I did. :( Oh well, just to finish playing and sort of see how it happens as you go through it. At Academia 4XX at the minute. :o

Now that I'm up to the FFXIII-2 final boss, I can make the following two statements:
1) There have been some memorable endings, but the plot ending feels like it's going to be a let down.
2) The final boss fight series, although somewhat predictable (even if my girlfriend didn't predict the final stage) is at least somewhat worthy of being a final boss fight (unlike FFXIII *coughcough*).

Which the DLC is suppose to deal with...or so they are saying.

I want a "none" option. Simply because I haven't and don't really play many other games, including Final Fantasy.
Edit: I found it. I for some reason assumed it'd be the last option in the list.

Adamsm
There is a 'Never' option.
