They officially announce in 2007, so add whatever you think is necessary to those three years, but remember that WC4 would likely use the same game engine as SC2 so that reduces the necessary dev time.
Actually, I doubt they'd do that. It doesn't feel very Blizzard-ish.

I'll be surprised if the deliver one at all, honestly. If it weren't for StarCraft's cult-like following for ten years, I'm not sure they wouldn't have made SC2. Sure people still play WC3, but not to the extent they played/still play SC.

Well, WC3 wasn't, and let's just be honest, the best grafic game ever.. But for the concept of the game, I, personally had a good felling playing this game. And for SC, i guess it had a bit better grafic than WC3 had, don't you think?

Then apparently you see some nuance I'm missing. The quality of graphics looks quite similar to me.

If you compare the two, Starcraft has very much more realistic graphics, while Warcraft 3 has a very exaggerated and cartoonish art style. It might not be obvious on still pictures though.

That's art style, not quality of graphics. Twilight Princess and Windwaker both have good quality of graphics.

Like I said, I never played Warcraft prior to WoW, so screens are all I get, and they depict pretty much the same view you get from SC each time.

I'm sure the UI contributes to that. I'm also sure that the difference would have been more noticeable if it weren't for the change of dimensions. Still, they're only a few years apart (4, I think)

I hope, that if they do make a WC4 that it starts from the end of TFT and completely re-writes the lore (properly) ignoring all the crap thats in WoW

Warcraft 3 uses a 3D, Nintendo 64 type engine. Starcraft uses a modified Warcraft 2 2D engine.
Any similarity is superficial.
