As of April 16th the topics about the tsunami and radioactive contamination have left the news in my country. Currently running are a killing spree at a shopping mall and a mother killing her 4 babies.
Which is horrible if you think about it. Thousands and thousands of death and almost unimaginable destruction leaves the news after a few weeks, and gets replaced by minor (Also horrible, of course, but not in comparison) news and "disasters".
I suppose it's just how news work. Most people seem to have lost interest aswell, sadly.
There's a theory in news reporting - if you've got nothing new to say, don't say it.

Is it just me... or does no one in the mainstream media... actually almost NO ONE seem to be talking about Fukushima reaching a 7 on the nuclear danger scale?
Honestly, I had to keep up with it myself on Wikipedia and other sites, and even then it wasn't headline news, it was just... left alone in a corner.
And if you guys want to keep up with three types of radiation that are escaping from Fukushima, here is a website that allows you to
Woweather.com
I'm sure lots of people already know about it though, as I was referred there as well.
P.S. A 7 on the scale of danger is the highest you can possibly go. This is now as bad or possibly even worse then the Chernobyl disaster... and this has been going on for more then a month. This. Is. Very. Bad.

Incidents like these are not the end of the world. Like, Chernobyl was about to be covered up until the wind changed to an unusual direction so Sweden became aware of it. The Mayak disaster was succesfully hidden, despite being a rank 6 incident. Fukoshima has the advantages of nearby ocean and prevailing winds. It would be much worse of everything had to be flushed down the Tokyo sewers.

A 7 just means that it's worse than a 6. The scales are relative, not absolute. A bad 7 is worse than a borderline 7.
It's nowhere near as bad as Chernobyl, by anyone's standards.

No, Chernobyl went to hell because it was understaffed and under manned, and happened during a time when the conflict in the USSR was truly messed up...what's happening with the Japan plant is that people are focusing on trying to fix it now, and get it stable. This isn't a car; something like that will take time to repair and get it back up to 100%. Also, that's all news is now a days; ride the sensationalism to make it seem worse then it is......I hate 'official' news.

Yeah, and half the people who hear it don't understand it. I hear people talking about the danger of fallout on the West Coast /facepalm. As far as I know, it wasn't a nuclear explosion. There is possible danger of irradiated water spreading out into the ocean, but nuclear reactor meltdown ≠ nuclear bomb.
Besides, at those kind of distances, you're talking about the equivalent dose of radiation as eating a few bananas.
