The Horde was so flat they were literally two-dimensional before they were retconned. Literally.
I would never have started playing Horde if they had stayed evil.
And the writing isn't that bad. It only took a turn for the worse around Wrath of the Lich King, and I anticipate it will get better as Catacylsm goes on.

They were playable ever since Warcraft 1.
And the Forsaken are not evil. Sylvanas is not evil. Dark grey, perhaps, but they're not evil, and their acceptance into the Horde makes sense.
I think their writing is fine, with a slight downturn in Wrath of the Lich King.
In Cataclysm, they're heading back down some of the darker paths, but their writing is fine.

I think he was that other guy who was trashing the story a few weeks ago. I think he had a General Vezax avatar?

No, it's Sold/LupineDruid/etc etc etc back again, for more punishment.

Eh, I didn't really mind.
I played Warcraft 2, and the retcon version isn't really distractingly different, IMO. Even post-retcon Orgrim is still harsh and driven.
And honestly, post-retcon Orgrim is one of my favorite characters, so I don't really mind. Had they not retconned it, I probably never would have gotten into Warcraft as much as I have.

Eh, he's still a backstabber....he just had a slightly reason for doing it post-retcon...though, leaving Gul'dan alive is still the height of stupid.

I would mainly agree with the OP, but what baffles me beyond all imagination is out of all the horde races the alliance choose to attack sucesfully, they choose the peacefull tauren.
Really?
Why not sack sen'jin village or Crossroads or razor hill? Anything but camp torajo.
And by the people of theramore too! And Jaina is no where to be seen,
What the hell is Jaina doing? It's like her people just decided without her and they were fine with it.
But I wouldn't call the horde, the bad guys or the evil guys. I would call the horde uncompassionately imperialistic, and borderline genocidal, with the exception of the lowly, kind, and completely vulnerable Tauren.

Well, the Tauren are a very influential part of the Horde military. Whether they prefer peace or not is irrelevant when you're talking strategy.

He has a point though, the tauren are at their fiercest when they're pissed off and defending their land. They did exactly that and the cow men are going to fight with all they got now.But their much easier to handle if their cut off from the Horde's supply line and vice versa.
Without Horde armor and weapons (not to mention reinforcements), the Tauren are limited to using just what they have in stock, which will degrade over time.
