I.Intro:
Making an other extended pvp guide, but this time im working subtlety in it aswell.
Not mentioning combat, since it still lacks a lot of key components to be arenaworthy.
Will once again be a guide focusing on arenas, but it still will be usefull for bgs.
Might even have to add more bg information with the current rated bgs.
The guide will first of all split into two major sections (one being mutilate and the other subtletly) and after that into minor sections related to its major section.

II.General abilities:
Cheap Shot
Used to be the number one opener, but it got rowed down.
It has become a very situational opener, since it now shares diminishing returns with
Kidney Shot
.
Garrote
The new number one opener providng a 5 second silence with its
Glyph
.
Sap
Sap is one of those skills that will determine the outcome of a match.
Almost mandatory to get a sap off in the beginning of a match.
Kidney Shot
One of the best finishers out there.
Use it wisely, because its timing might be crucial.
Now shares diminishing returns with
Cheap Shot
.
A very strong finisher as mutilate and a necessary finisher as sub (because of
Energetic Recovery
).
Sprint
Pretty straight forward, used to fill out the gap between you and your target.
Also used at the start to ensure a sap.
Kick
Interrupts the cast of your target.
Very important to kick casts, like desperate heals or CCs.
Dismantles the melee weapon(s), shield and ranged weapon of your target.
Frequently used to end
Bladestorm
or on a hunter before he can
Detterence
.
Evasion
One of the few defensive cooldowns we have.
Great for melees and hunters, however not prefered to use against a warrior since he'll be able to
Overpower
you.
Vanish
Our reset button.
Can be used defensively and offensively.
Just be sure not to use these as fast as possible.
Cloak of Shadows
Nulifies all spell damage and is used as a defensive cooldown during bursts or when resetting with vanish.
Blind
Disorients the target and may determine the win or loss of a match.
Be sure that your Blind target is completely free of dots, because it breaks easily.
Combat Readiness
A very strong defensive cooldown, though it only works on weapon strikes.
Obviously very handy for swaps, makes locking a specific target immediately on a swap possible.
Smoke Bomb
An incredible strong ability, can leave your target without heals if used correctly.
Though its an ability that has to be mastered and all your team mates have to play according to it.
So make sure you are checking on team mates before using this.
Very hard to counter with a good swap or lock.
Tricks of the Trade
Grants your 2v2 or 3v3 partners 15% more damage for 6 seconds.
Really good for those burst moments.
Deadly Throw
Really good to slow your target and catch up with him.
Fan of Knives
Not used frequently in arenas, but useful to get someone out of stealth or for mass crippling.
Feint
Also not a very common ability, but handy if you have dismantle on cooldown and the warrior is bladestorming.
Shiv
May be used for poison application of your offhand.
Mostly used against rogues when they evasion, this hits through it.
Also pretty handy for warrior disarms, since they only disarm the mainhand and not the offhand.
Dont forget that the old Anesthetic Poison and Shiv were merged together to its current form.
Distract
Very good ability to use when the enemy is rushing towards your team or when you need to perfect a sap.
Empty Poison Vial
Reduces all healing effects by
10%
.
This should be applied to a slow mh, because of its ppm.
The chance of applying wound poison is higher per strike with slow weapons.
1.3 Speed - 46.43%
1.4 Speed - 50.00%
1.5 Speed - 53.57%
1.6 Speed - 57.14%
1.7 Speed - 60.71%
1.8 Speed - 64.29%
2.6 Speed - 92.86%
2.8 Speed - 100.00%
Empty Poison Vial
As mutilate it is favored to use instant poison above wound poison, because the healing debuff is only 10% and instant outweighs that in damage.
This should be applied to a slow mh, because of its ppm.
The chance of applying instant poison is higher per strike with slow weapons.
This is
with
Improved Poisons
.
1.3 Speed - 27.86%
1.4 Speed - 30.00%
1.5 Speed - 32.14%
1.6 Speed - 34.29%
1.7 Speed - 36.43%
1.8 Speed - 38.57%
2.6 Speed - 55.71%
2.8 Speed - 60.00%
Empty Poison Vial
This should be applied to a fast oh, because it has a set 30% chance to be applied per strike.
Also once stacked to 5 times, each application of
Deadly Poison
causes the poison on the rogue's other weapon to be applied.

III.Mutilate:
A.
Specific abilities
Mutilate
This is your main CPbuilder and requires a dagger in your mainhand and offhand.
Envenom
This is one of your two main finishers.
Hits like a truck and pierces through armor, because of its nature damage.
Rupture
Rupture has grown to be a very strong finisher for mutilate, mostly because of
Venomous Wounds
.
Not only does it receive extra damage, but can also restore energy.
It is also a finisher that can prevent other rogues from restealthing.
Slice and Dice
Im currently packing
Cut to the Chase
in my pvp build and actually it isnt a bad thing.
Poisons are currently off the scale and anything that can enhance this, is well taken.
Ensures a crit, though it now also provides 25 energy on use!
So make sure you benefit from both before using.
Vendetta
A very good burst ability which lasts a shocking 30 seconds.
This is a long time, since no descent pvper will let you slash on someone for a constant 30 seconds.
This makes the glyph kind of lackluster.
B.
Specc
This
is the specc i will be using.
Coup de Grace
is currently outweighing this, because of envenom being much more important and hard hitting (due to
Mastery
).
Not really worth it in an arena situation, since the idea is to force people to trinket the sap and have an other full cc thrown on them.
Currently not needed with the raw damage poisons are putting out, it actually handicaps it.
Cut to the Chase
Actually not too bad of a talent, it increases poison application which means more damage and more crippling proccs. Though you should try for yourself if its worth the trouble.
I dropped the filler points in here, since the other were lackluster and 7% less damage is not too bad.
Elusiveness
Pretty easy choice for me, since this rocks together with
Deadened Nerves
and the new resi system. Mutilate is lackerish in mobility, so i try to pump up survivability, since the damage output is good already.
Like i said before, the most damage comes from poisons.
So dropping 2 points out of this for
Improved Recuperate
is something i gladly did.

Gear and enchants
Pvp gear is currently very important and i currently dont know the exact aim, but my save guess would be to pack full pvp, since resilience has become a very sweet stat.
Currently the amount of hit you want is 5% to 7%.
5% is the usual, but you'll need 7% to counter

IV.Subtlety:
A.
Specific abilities
Hemorrhage
An okay cpbuilder, used mostly for its debuff and/or when your enemy is being a pain in his movement.
Backstab
Your better cpbuilder.
It does more damage than
Hemorrhage
, but both are essential.
Rupture
Currently rupture is not that good.
Many people prefer to use eviscerate at all times instead and rely on the
Glyph of Hemo
as a bleed for
Sanguinary Vein
.
Dispatch
Descent finisher and is currently outpreforming rupture.
Straight forward ability.
Us this as much as possible.
People tend to use this to ensure a 5cp finisher immediately and some others use it to preroll recuperate.
This is also pretty self explanatory.
Use this wisely, dont just rush into cooldowns.
Still remains a high burst ability if used correctly.
Can also inflict a lot of control, so time this ability with your team mates.
B.
Specc
This
seems to be the obvious choice.
I only put one point into this, since its only a small loss of stealth movement (which is made up by
Quickening
) while still remaining a descent talent with one point in it.
I am sad not to be able to take this ability.
I could, but then i would be sacrificing too much for it.
Lets hope that blizzard finds a fix for the bloated subtlety tree.
/
I see people taking Initiative above Honor Among Thieves.
I think they are forgetting that Honor Among Thieves can also procc from your own crits, making it the obvious winner.
10% more damage with a requirement easily furfilled, is a talent i dont have to think twice about to take.
Elusiveness
Pretty obvious choice, since you'll be running up with Recuperate all the time.

V.Keybinding:
Keybinding is essential for pvp, clicking is not an option.
One way to keybind is to play with the normal movement keys (QZDS), keybind around it and than again with modifiers.
Another way is:
Also the best way of starting to keybing is to move your movement keys one side to the right.
Instead of QZDS, you'd have SEFD.
This opens a whole new world of more keys, while still keeping control on your previous keys.
Read
this
topic for a bit more information.

VI.Addons:
I like to keep the number of addons as low as possible.
Currently I'm using 4 addons for arenas.
Gladius:
Gladius adds enemy unit frames to arenas for easier targeting and focusing. It is highly configurable and you can disable most features of this addon.
NcCooldownFlash / Doom_CooldownPulse:
Ever wanted to know when a certain ability will come off cooldown, but you're too caught up in a fight to notice? Doom_CooldownPulse is designed to fix that problem! It flashes the icon of the ability in the middle of your screen whenever it becomes usable again.
KAuraAlert:
Alerts and shows CCs being cast and casted on you.
DRTracker:
This pretty much can track the dr on everything around you, but more importantly the dr between
Cheap Shot
and
Kidney Shot
.

VII.Macros:
Macros are essential and help both you and your team mates.
Spammable sap to get other stealthies out of stealth.
Sap macro:
#show sap
/cleartarget
/targetenemy
/cast sap
Tricks macro:
/cast Tricks of the Trade
/RW Tricks on you, mofo
And making macro's of certain defensive abilities, so that your healer can keep track of it.
Even when you are playing on vent, skype or irl.
Cloak macro:
#showtooltip Cloak of Shadows
/cast Cloak of Shadows
/rw Cloak used
Evasion macro:
#showtooltip Evasion
/cast Evasion
/rw Evasion used
You can also work with modifiers and focus target.
Blind macro:
#showtooltip
/cast blind
/cast blind
/stopmacro

IX.Tips&tricks:
Check
this
out for the full use of
Shiv
.
Always turn your party into a raid before signing up. With this trick you can mark your arena partners and this makes it easier for you and your healer to keep track of you.
Dont be afraid to use
Distract
. It might buy you useful seconds when they rush ahead to your team. It might even make a sap easier.
When facing a mirror or a team with an other rogue, be sure to get the later sap. This means that your sap should fall after the opponent's sap. Giving you and your team mate an extra few seconds. Dont refresh sap too soon and try to milk it out.
Gladius has a great feature which allows right clicks (on a nameplate) to determine your focus target. Really handy to use and you can swap fast.
People often forget that you can restealth more than you think. When you eat a full fear, at the end of it you'll be out of combat (unless the lock hits you with something) and be able to restealth. This is might turn a whole match upside down.
When facing a comp with a rogue, you can always use the woundman trick. This means opening on something and letting the rogue open on you. You trinket the kidney shot and do a blind on him. He will trinket this, no doubt. Restealth and go all out on the rogue, he should drop without a sweat. Though this is a bit risky to use.

Looks great. Just a few things I noticed.
Mainhand with Hurricane or Landslide and Instant Poison.
Landslide > Hurricane yeah?
Glyph of Preparation - Optional #1
Why would this be optional? Wouldn't the extra Smoke Bomb be mandatory?
Apart from that, it looks excellent.
Reported for sticky :)

Thanks a lot for this guide.
When i Moved from privates to retail, I thought i'd never PvP anymore. This gave me inspiration to do it.
Thank you, my Pandaren Rogue friend.

Landslide > Hurricane yeah?
Actually im not sure.
It seems like hurricane can also procc from poisons which can lead to having the same buff up twice with the same enchant.
Why would this be optional? Wouldn't the extra Smoke Bomb be mandatory?
Certain players might not need the second smoke bomb and rather have a secure swap.
Though its comp dependant.

i was wondering if that would work:
ambush opener and gouge after since gliph removes positional requirement, them 5cp KS and backstabs?
Get that off and your KS is going to be trinketed.

Not only is it bad to open with an ambush, but what glyph would you drop for the glyph of gouge?

Love the guide, but just have a question about gemming
you said its best to use a delicate inferno ruby for red sockets. wouldn't it be better to use a delicate chimera's eye? that's another 27 agility points.
Of course, but you need to be a JC to use those.
