People in BG's who speak in all caps about we need to D the towers more...
OMG WHO THE **** CAPT SNOWFAL GR8! NW WE'RE GONNA BE HERE ALL DAY
I'd hear that fairly often as a hordie in the Retaliation battlegroup, back in BC when I did BGs on a regular basis.
Now I do wintergrasp, once a month or so . . .
Seriously. I quit doing BG's pretty much forever (except on my level 20 warrior) after about three straight weeks of it. Perhaps Arena is better, but I seriously cannot understand people who scream about how PvP > PvE and it takes skill and is fun and has a great community.
I can't even go to the PvP forums on Wowhead. To many bloody idiots.

I'm hoping that rated BGs make this a bit more tolerable. Of course, that removes the random aspect of the BG (i.e., you know everyone with whom you're grouped), so of course you're not going to have as much of an issue.
Until then, I go into BGs and leave the BG chat pane open until I determine whether it's going to be an "OMFG U NUBS" group (most common), a silent BG (second-most common), or (gasp) a BG that actually communicates and whomps up a strategy on the fly.

Wow we get Offtopic easily don't we anyway
I was leveling my paladin as prot when I qued for a random. Got AN and the group was like 3 pallies and 2 hunters. The ret pally was all big about his dps saying he is the king and telling us how I might need to taunt off him alot.. blah blah blah. Made it to anub and he is still saying how he had the highest dps in the group and how he was going straight into his Guilds ICC 25 man heroic because of it...
Well needless to say when I checked recount I saw this
Me... dps 2.5k 42% of damage done
random hunter 1.8k 33% of damage
paladin 1.2k 18% of damage done
hunter 700 with remaining damge done.
I link it and ask if he was so great why was he listed as 3rd on dps done. He says he wasn't trying and I tell him to try and lets see what happens. Well we down anub he maxxed at a whoping 1.1k dps with me at 2.1k yeah something is messed up there I think but he goes on still untill I leave about how he is gonna be a top raider in his guild...
I got his guild name went and asked his guild leader after making anouther toon and got the response... Yeah we are debating on kicking him. He isn't good and he is way to elitest for my taste. well I told him the above which got the response "Well he won't be joining us now I just kicked him."
I didn't mean to get the guy kicked just warn the GM... but oh well.

Someone who takes WoW too seriously? Okay, my former GM and Raid Leader from a year or two back.
We (my current guild) split off from a much larger one. Though we do 10 mans as opposed to their 25 mans, we have always been much further in the progression than them, and they refuse to let us go. Seriously, they've been hounding us for a long time because they can't get over the fact that we left their guild.
Nobody even really had a grudge against them, until they started causing drama on the realm forums, and in trade chat. But pretty much the entire realm hates them now, and their guild no longer exists, having since split off into several other guilds.
Another person who takes it too seriously is a former officer from my current guild. He was trying to tell people how to play their class (when he had no idea how to do so), was extremely arrogant (asserting himself a better player than the class leaders) and if the GM was not present he would attempt to take over the raid's strategy from the Raid Leader. Eventually he had a fit and ragequit, but nobody went with him. He formed his own guild, and ever since, he's been trying to have an e-peen contest with us.
Every time he downs a boss he makes sure to gloat it to us. And when we down a boss he makes snide remarks. He's now ahead of us in progression, but only because we went on hiatus before Cataclysm due to burnout (really, even on heroic you can see ICC only so much before you're sick of it), but he makes sure to brag constantly.
He's even more hated than the two i've mentioned before, and has gotten several name changes and actually transferred back on and off the realm just so he can recruit people so they don't know who he is. It's pretty sad.

speaking of bgs
story 1: go into arathi basin about 30 secs in other side has 2 bases, we have 2 bases, and fighting for the open spot. we get the 3rd and 2 guys are crying over the fact we dont have 5 bases.
story2 in arathi 60-69 bracket only 2 ppl not 60 both are 69s complaning about how we all fail at life and wow because we are only 60. yet if you look at deaths all of us 60s have 5 total deaths and the 2 69s are already past 30 deaths. also we were winning
pretty much anyone in bgs who cries about a score. they spend so much time typing its a wonder how they do anything. especially those who talk about kills.... in capture the flag you can have 10k kills you still lost

You can never take WoW too seriously, only life.

Naming and shaming, no thanks. Do not do this again.
There was nothing where you typed "removed". The only thing you actually removed were links to screenshots - you didn't actually remove the part where I
named
the player.
I don't understanding how a thread about "people taking the game too seriously" can be without "shaming".
By "naming"...what do you mean? Do you believe actions shouldn't have consequences and individuals' reputations shouldn't be damaged by their misdeeds?
The
Wowhead forum rules
don't seem to say anything against "naming and shaming" (or anything remotely like it), or posting screenshots...are you trying to make a point...?
Actually umm..
any other activity that is against
Blizzard's Terms of Use or License Agreement
will be deleted immediately, and the poster will be banned.

I think that's about right.
(Yes usernames actually do count as "personal information" before you get smart-ass on it)
pwned XD

smearing a guild and people by name publicly is an offence in WoW and action has been taken in the past against these people repeatedly.
we faced this fellow, not in our guild but who had been in a raid with a core member.
about 6 months before the incident he losses out on a saurfang weapon to that core member of our guild we mentioned. He @#$%^ed and moans about after losing the role, the fellow who rolled 3rd spot had a poor weapon and was a friend of said core member, so core member gives him the weapon.
mr *!@#$ &*!@#es and moans even more and says he sold it to him and didnt need the weapon in the first place which is why he gave it away...
6 months later, core member ends up in a heroic pug with this fellow again on the same alt and he wins the same weapon with core member going crazy again.
This time however, telling us, his version of the story and moaning and !@#$%ing. Said core member had instigated it a bit so he go in trouble with us but just a warning. He hadnt done anything wrong.
Mr #$%^& #$%^&es on trade for days on end and people are getting sick of him. He even starts taking us by name and says we support ninja's . Even abusing our 2nd command who's a lovely and just person and well known for it by many in our server.
We report this and he gets a warning not cease and desist.
after 3 months he started off about about the same thing, nothing new had happened since then between him and us. He hasnt been online on any of his chars ever since.

After seeing this thread on the forums I thought I might have something to add but then noticed
Aestu
was already here and had summed up the worst case scenario pretty well: - feeling such an intense need to engage in self-deception, even when it gets nothing, from anyone, and the person would be better served in purely utilitarian terms fessing up and being honest.Hopefully I did not misinterpret this (as I am not certain I completely understand the last part of what he said) but if he ment lying just for the sake of lying, with no gain whatsoever, then I agree with him.
Edit: then I read the post above... Whenever Aestu posts, of course!:D
Edit #2: Oh, just remembered. A guild called <SuperHappyAdventureClub> on Twilight's Hammer had to rename to <SHAC> because someone reported the name. That was either being too serious... or just being idiotic.
