I have heared Marrowgar is more likely to Bonestorm people that have killed a kitten up to 24 hours before the fight. You should stay away from the people he bonestorms. They are sick in the head!

Anecdotal, but anyway.
I'm not completely convinced he only picks a "far away" target. While tanking him, what's happened a couple of times with me, is when he's almost done Bonestorm (last target,) and I'm getting in position to pick him up again, he targets and heads me, despite being almost right beside him.
I may argue that he "prefers" distant targets, but I wouldn't say it's restricted to distant targets, no.
Fun though... Nice to have the intensity of the fights back again! We'll get it soon, it's just that we're too used to content that we could plow through... People are a bit slow to think after that!
I know what you mean. I think a few of my raiding buddies are getting a bit like that, so I'm hoping to smash a couple hardmodes to wake them up. Personally, I've never been the type to get all relaxed and careless on farm content. Not to say I'm stressing myself out to be focused, but we're taking the time to raid together, and I'm not going to be the guy that makes consistent, stupid mistakes and wasting everyone's time.
That isn't to say I don't do my share of slacking on old content (Tier 7 content for the weekly, for example.)

Our main issue right now is people getting headless chicken syndrome - too many people running in too many directions, then people getting out of range of healers, or getting spiked out of range of DPS, or just getting spiked/coldflamed/bonestormed all at once.
The problem with Marrow is that that behavior compounds itself if the Bonestorm phase doesn't go
exactly
right from the get-go. The first time he bonestorms into the middle where the raid is standing, you might be able to get your raiders to stand still for a second, but what do you do when he Coldflames all of them? They HAVE to move out, at least a little. The entire raid eating coldflame + bonestorm + someone is spiked is simply not healable. Once they've moved at least a little, he probably won't go straight for the tanks every time again, which means he'll go to one part of the raid that moved out. They'll have to move a little more, again, to avoid cold flames. Meanwhile they guys on the opposite end of the raid move out a little, since now they are far enough that they can get out of entirely, etc. etc., and you end up with a raid all over the place.
It's not really a problem that gives you a lot of chance to recover from it.

Occam's razor would tend to favor it being random.

As far as I can tell, it's the location -- plenty of times I've spotted him targeting me, and when I preemptively moved, for the impending Cold Flame, he still whirled toward where I
was
. I may be imagining things, but that's my personal experience.

I think my kitten theory is much better than anything else said in this topic. Except for maybe Occam's Razor, which is a really cool thing to say. It even got into House.

Did you notice how everybody else ignored it?
There's a reason for that...
I think you are a very kind person.
I also think that every time Marrowgar looks for a new Bonestorm target, he evaluates each place where players stand. If one player stands alone, he takes it as a possible place. If 22 players stand at one place, he takes it as one possible place too. If three tanks stand in a triangle, and the rest of the raid hugs in the middle, he has four possible locations to pick. 75% chance that he will pick one of the tanks, 25% chance that he will pick the raid. Once he bonestorms a tank, one of the locations goes away, so its a 66% chance to charge one of the other two tanks, and a 33% chance to charge the raid. But i might be wrong, and he really picks his bonestorm locations by kitten frag ammounts.
I was kinda going for a "When does Onyxia cast deep breath" reference with the kittens. Should be more bluntly obvious next time i guess.
