Meh, I barely raised an eyebrow when they added the Headmaster's Charge as a blue in Outland (and later on as a heirloom...) even though I got it when it had the insanely low droprate.
Things like this have happened forever, just be glad you have the original phoenix and move on.
Just read the part paladingod quoted... The game you want to play is centered around having a rare mount all for yourself? It's not like they're gonna turn yours purple so it's unrecognizable...

You are QQing about a different version mount that you got at 80 from a lvl70 raid. I hope someone who got it at lvl70 starts QQing about how you didnt get it fairly now.

The casual player base are the ones who pay Blizzard's bills, keep the lights on, keep the servers running so that elitist snobs like you can slander them and claim they don't *really* enjoy the game.
The argument is so plainly facile it's laughable. The "casual players" obviously DO enjoy the game or they wouldn't pay to play it. Just because they choose to spend their time in the game differently than how you spend it doesn't make it wrong.
Finally, despite your many protestations to the contrary, it is obvious you
are
upset that Blizzard is making a mount with the same model as your phoenix, and making it accessible without getting lucky on rolls and farming for hours. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
