I was one of the haters. "OMG WoW is for NERDZ!11!". That was me a few months ago. Then a friend of mine convinced me to try the trial. Started an Undead Warrior and i loved the game. I paid for a month and started an Orc Hunter. He has become my main and ive become addicted as all hell. Im not "ashamed" of it. WoW is no Different from Monster Hunter (i have 300 hours on every single one), or even Cal of Duty. All of those are addictive.

If I dont make it known to people, my wife makes a point to. She doesnt understand the game/kinda hates it, but plays online tetris for the same amount fo time I play wow /end rant.
So I am used to our friends knowing that I play wow, it doesnt take over my life and I have a lot of other hobbies so I can avoid the stereotype.

I'm not ashamed of playing this game. It just frustrates me that my friends at school get angry with me when they decide, "Oh, let's have a Duel Monsters (Yugioh) Tournament after school ends," and I say, "Yeah, sure, I just need to be home before 7:00 P.M," and when I explain I raid at 7:45, they find it laughable, yet we're seniors in high school playing with trading cards and that is perfectly okay.
I don't tend to bring up Warcraft with most people, except the friends I do have who also play. My girlfriend knows I play, and there are times when I feel somewhat embarrassed when discussing a game in her presence, but she's okay with it and is even willing to try it out when she gets a decent laptop.
The only problem people have with WoW is it's a game that people find addictive. The media portrays it as game that causes children/college students to drop out, yet the media doesn't report on the people who manage their time well and play while keeping up with schooling/work.
Most teenagers are addicted to other games, like Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2, which are quite violent, yet are fun. I play both in my free time, yet the mass media ignores the teenagers who lock themselves up in their rooms shooting people in the face, tea-bagging pixels, and shouting profanities at their screen.
Before I refused to play this game, but my friend managed to convince me to try it, and I now have 4 level 80s, with a few more on the way.
Just my two cents (Wall of text aside). I'm a gamer, I'm proud of it, and I'm not ashamed of my choices.

You can blame the media for giving WOW players a bad name.

What is your definition of healthy? Someone who can run 5 miles without the need to catch their breath? Or simply someone who isnt malnourished? Who doesnt get sick all the time? Who doesnt have a large variety of medical problems due to a lack of a healthy diet?
To me, its the latter, and until you explain what exactly you mean by "healthy lifestyle", your argument is flawed
My argument is flawed because I didn't clarify the definition of what I
thought
was common knowledge? Think about what you just said for a moment. If you are still confused, read on.
A healthy lifestyle is eating right, getting proper exercise, getting daily responsibilities done. Because you seem to be confused, I'll point out that a "healthy" person is not the same thing as a person leading a "healthy lifestyle". You're mixing up the context of definitions.
Again...I'm not arguing that all players lead unhealthy lifestyles, but that it is what gives the game its reputation.
