A few questions about perm Water Elemental

I just hit 50 on my mage and got my water ele and the glyph. I'm just wondering a few things.
Do my stats have any effect on the ele at all? Does my SP, Spell Haste, or Crit do anything for his water bolts or is it always stuck at a set damage and cast time?
What happens to him when I get on a flying mount in outland and northrand? I can handle losing him when I get on a FP because the 3 minute cooldown is usually done when I land, but having to resummon every time I get on my flyer seems aweful annoying.
Is there any set number or formula as to how fast he regains mana?

I haven't actually tested it, but I assume it will work just like Warlock's or Hunter's pet. It will de-summon when you mount and automatically re-summon when you dismount. If it does work like other pet mechanics it will sometime take couple of secs to re-adjust to stats scaled by your gear.
It does not Desummon, It will stay by ur side while u are mounted. and If it disappears while u using ur flying mount, U WILL have to waste the Summoning cooldown to resummon it, Sad but true, Hope Blizz could fix it :(

I haven't tested the speed of the pet, but it keeps up with you on ground no problem. However, as it can't fly and doesn't move nearly as fast as an epic flyer (again, haven't tested with a regular flyer), it can despawn if you go high/far enough. It will also despawn if you take a portal (such as the LFD insta-portal) or taxi, or get in a vehicle.
So, this does cause a problem if you have recently summoned the elemental. It's a known issue - the only workaround at this point is to avoid summoning the pet if your stay in that location will be short and the need for the pet will be greater in the new location.

It keeps up with a regular flyer, for what it's worth. However, you'll need to remember that it has to climb up and down hills, so it's still extremely easy to leave it behind.
Non-Mage portals, taxis will cause it to despawn, some vehicles seem OK (eg, Demolishers in SotA), others cause weird things to happen (Shredders, when you exit, they're there, but your standard WE pet action bar is replaced with the Shredder abilities oO;;).
The WE seems to follow me whenever I teleport, but not when I hearth (I think, from memory). It's highly strange. Just be thankful that the summoning cooldown starts from when he's summoned, not from when he dies (like DK Unholy ghouls).

They reduced it in the same patch that introduced the perma WE. I can't say that I've ever had it run out of mana. Easy way to test is just to have it wail away for 10 minutes on a target dummy.

The WE disappears when u enter a dungeon.
So if u going random heroic make sure the CD not active.
Also i seen my WE disappearing when i use me fly mount and go to high. So basicly if u go out of range for ur WE its gone.
But i havent been farming or outside a city for weeks so i dont know if they fixed all this.

1. The WE is a Summon, not a pet or minion (anyone who says they are is WRONG), thus exempt from the despawning rule.
~this means they do not teleport with you, or zone when you do so. However, they do remain when mounted, just as a DK's ghouls do.
2. WEs are not minions or pets, but do have basic scaling (stam, int, SP, etc.), but does not receive haste as hunter pets or warlock pets do not either. Pets and minions can receive scaled amount of crit through talents. Frost Mages receive our elemental through talents, and the one other talent that does effect it, effects the spell itself, NOT the summon.
3. Water Elementals can receive refreshment. Along with the HUGE reduction in the cost of waterbolt, youre Elemental should never run out of mana. Its there for pure damage now. Infact, it can survive most AoE spells which are desinged for insta-kills, IE, Talon King Ikiss.

A DK's
temporary
ghoul. An Unholy DK spec'd into having a permanent ghoul has his resummoned every time he dismounts. I remember being extremely frustrated that I'd have a few seconds lag time after dismounting before my ghoul could attack.

Right-click on the button your red arrow is pointing to. It makes your Elemental auto-cast Waterbolt, otherwise, you need to manually click it everytime you want it to cast and attack something.
