Dropping MBlast if you have your 4pc t10 can be a dps gain if either you and/or your computer are bad. If you're good and your computer is good, it will be a dps loss, but a small one.
Huh? That's not what S'priest.com concluded. They said that Simcraft only reported a DPS gain with
high skill and low latency
.
*high skill, low latency and awesum gear ;)
I think there's time for someone to link that link to the post now, I dont have it bookmarked on this computer.
4)
Opener:
as long as each spell in your rotation
stack up Misery AND
you apply (or reapply)
Pain after the 5th stack
you have a good opener.
I've been trying with countless different openers, all including stacking up Misery and then apply/reapply SWP after 5 stacks(or 5+10stacks of muradin).
And the obviously superior opener to everything, presuming you arent positioning and could cast DP/SWD while doing so, is;
VT MB MF (2x MF if you have muradin) and then apply DP/SWP.
or that's how it have been for me anyways. go to those dummies and check out yourself :)

If you have trinkets like
Murradin's Spyglass
or
Abyssal Rune
, reapply SW:P as soon as you have a full stack or proc. As long as you use MF's refresh to keep SW:P constantly up without dropping it, the dot will continue to be counted as having additional SP even if the buff stack drops off.

Apply pain not only with 5 stacks of shadow weaving, but also watch your buffs and the boss' debuffs for things like
Scorch
,
Sanctified Retribution
,
Heart of the Crusader
, etc. Or let
ShadowGreenLight
do that for you. Sometimes casting SWP immediately after 5 stacks of weaving isn't correct, or re-applying it later might be.

woah woah woah guys. I heard from
this l33t guy
once that you shouldn't be giving advice on shadow if it isn't your main spec on your primary toon that you had made into a giant paper cut out and sleep with every night.

I like to open with a Potion of Wild Magic active just 1 second before I enter combat. That way my SWP benefits for the whole fight (in some cases!). then I get another run of it right after Heroism/BL wears off.

I thought they fixed that so it applies the spellpower to SWP when it's refreshed w/ Mind Flay.
I thought so too. Just gotta find the official notes on that...

You could totally be right. Actually I think you are, as I currently only reapply when using
Nevermelting Ice Crystal
or when I see a %dam/crit buff casted or triggered during a fight.

To my knowledge, SWP is re-applied with the original crit rating, but the SP is refreshed.

Answered my own question with the new description on ShadowGreenLight. So yes SP changes are now updated on refreshes but crit rating and %damage buffs still need a hard cast to be added to the continual uptime.
A note to all the guys who want me to "please add trinket procs" : This addon is devoted solely to monitoring and (in some case) abusing the fact that mind-flay refreshes of SW:P do not take into account %dmg buffs and +crit rating buffs, spellpower buffs are taken into account when refreshing with mind flay. To the best of my knowledge there is only one trinket that procs +crit rating / %dmg (Nevermelting Ice Crystal crit proc). Please stop asking me to add spellpower procs.

Would receiving
Essence of the Blood Queen
be a good time to re-apply SW:P then, since it's a %dmg buff?

Edit: actually, the crit stack will only average out to around 25% extra damage, while the bite is +100%, so you should always recast it. If you know you're going to get the bite early then maybe you should save potion and nevermelting for the bite, then reapply with the enhanced crit and the buff.
Excellent point for paying attention to your fights after they have ended starji. You should make it a point to learn boss fights especially their buffs so you can make the decision for when to let one buffed version of SWP fade for a different buffed version. If you take starji's advice and apply it to a bunch of different fights where you get damage buffs you could see a real increase in your damage numbers.
