Getting into PVP: Shadow?

I've never been much for PVP, but I've found I've hit a wall in ICC and I wanted to give a new style of play a try. I have a few 80s (A paladin, a warrior, and a priest) and I think a priest looks like the most interesting to PVP on. Now, I've always seen disc priests in BGs doing their thing, but the style has never been really appealing to me, shadow on the other hand is an friend of mine I'm familiar with. To sum this up I'm basically asking.... How is shadow for pvp? Any super important macros I need (like how an arms warrior as a shield + spell reflect macro)? Is there any reason for me to jump out of shadow form besides throwing myself a big heal and then flicking it back on?
I know this is pretty vague, but like I said, I've been playing this game for years and I'm completely useless in pvp.

At first, you will get facerolled, even if you have a decent amount of resi (from badge collection furious gear or the like). This is due to the fact you wont have much of a clue about playstyle, as you practise, thsi will change and you'll be melting faces, then melting faces with ease, then melting faces like a pro!
Consider magro'ing IFire to Divine Hymn.
Don't be disheartened, if you wanna get really good, stand outside org and duel people in betwenn battleground's, look out for various playstyles of different people, you wont learn them all, but the more you know, and the more vp you do, the better you will be able to react.
Learn to SW:Death Polymorphs, do this by casting it at the end of a polymorph. - If you get relaly good vs. rogues, and can predict when they will blind, you can often break blinds with this, then you get a big smile on your face =)
Don't tunnel vision, you ARE a hybrid, you do not just dps, you scream, horror (disarm), sheild, shackle pets/Lichborne'd DK's, mindcontrol jump people off cliffs or to "CC" healers, so that your team mates can take down that flag carrier, you dispell, sheild team mates, or even drop form to help heal! One Instant PoM cast, with 5 full bounces can do upwards of 15K healing easily (non-crits), healing others will likely directly affect your survival too.
Also, try to dispersion when you have a full set of DoT's up on the target, that way, your dots are ticking, and they are doing a whopping 10% of their usual dmg.
Fade is v. useful for getting Hammstring/frost Shock/Feral slow/Mages Slow/Crippling poison off you. Use it, love it (maybe even consider it as a major glyph slot!)
Learn the tricks of other classes, and adapt, rogues will likely be your biggest issue, because of CloS clearing all the DoTs, aswell as their generally awesome contol, if you can survive till your first fear comes off CD, then you are much more likely to win.
