The game runs fine but I can not save any changes that I make to the UI and when I quit the game I get an error saying that memory can not be saved.
How do you get the game that MS says is 100% compatible in 64 bit to work correctly?

So far I have not seen a lot I like about Win 7.
Is there a way to set a shortcut to always run as admin ?
If not I will turn UAC off.
thank you for the help

What Neura says. Need to "run as administrator", this is a very common issue.
Turning off UAC will not stop the need to "Run as administrator".
The UAC only prompts for every damn thing done, i have mine disabled because of that.
To always "Run as administrator"
Right click the Icon.
Select "
Properties
" from the menu.
At the top of the window, select the tab "
Compatibility
"
Near the bottom, under "
Privilege Level
", put a check on "
Run this program as an Administrator
"
To disable Windows "UAC"
Start.
Run/Search.
Type "UserAccountControlSettings" and push. <Enter>
Move the slider bar to the bottom.
Click "OK"

Or you can move your World of Warcraft folder outside your Program Files folder. Personally, my path is C:\World of Warcraft. Saves so much hassle this way.

Another possible issue is that a while back some people noticed their WoW folders become Read Only (and hence couldn't save any settings changes). I had this issue, as well as one of my roommates (Win 7 64bit and Vista 32bit respectively). I've seen some forum posts indicating that a faulty patch might have caused the issue, but I'm not sure what set it off myself. Additional trouble came when Windows refused to let me removed the Read Only flag in the file settings (it would just come back after clicking Ok). In any case, copying the folder, removing the old one and renaming the new one to the old one seems to have fixed the issue for myself and my roommate.

Patch 3.0.1 prompted the user to move the WoW folder from C:\Program Files\... to C:\Users\Public\Games\... The patch did it if asked and warned the user about the consequences of leaving it there.
WoW does not require UAC to be disabled or "Run As Admin" for anything at all. I've been running WoW in Vista and 7 since I started playing. Never needed to disable UAC or Run As.
The key point is that programs that are installed in C:\Program Files are not allowed to write logs/config files/etc. to that directory in order to be "Compatible with Windows" certified. Blizzard state that WoW will run on Windows 7 and will support it, but it's not certified by MS to do so.
The trick to solving this problem once and for all is to install it to somewhere other than C:\Program Files\... from the outset (mine's D:\Games\World of Warcraft) and you'll never have any issues with settings/addons/UAC.
Blizzard aren't perfect and sometimes when the patch moves the files to C:\Users\Public\Games\..., it doesn't move all the files and leaves some behind and doesn't update the game shortcuts and other things that prevent the move from working successfully.
