Long ago when they introduced it I was fine, it opened up a lot of twink battlegrounds and things like that. Over the years I have grown to hate it! During the days when you only PVPed with people from your server you could make a name for yourself good or bad. Now you are just another warrior or warock roaming around the sea. The community forum fights were classic! Meeting other guilds in STV or Arathi for THE SHOW DOWN was also so much fun. All of that is gone now.

Wrong, the BGs would still be server only. You would still have prominent PVP communities for each server.

I agree whole-heartedly. I was quite the PvPer in classic WoW, and there was definitely a bond, a sense of community amongst PvPers. People recognized you if you were good in BGs, even if they never spoke to you personally, even members of the opposite faction. I remember countless times that I've encountered an Alliance player while questing or farming and instinctively start to attack because I recognized their name from seeing them in BGs so much, knowing that if I didn't attack first, they would, anyway. These days, with everything being a hodgepodge, it's rare to find more than two or three people from your server in a BG, which really kills the server's community, IMO.

I think it's absolutely worth it. I still get to see my local server PvPers in WG. I remember helping someone out in Battle Before the Citadel, and then encounter them an hour later in WG... Interesting.
Anyway, I love short queue times more than recognizing/being recognized.
