For the ICC instances and ToC, but beyond that no; but you might run into GS-elitist who will kick you, but don't take it personally. My lock ran most of the instances the first day I got my computer back, and she was in blues/pvp epics, a few people laughed at my dps but I didn't get kicked; must have just got lucky.
Congratz on 80 and have fun gearing up.

Story for you....
Did Cos today with my retridin, have been 80 for about 20 hours game time, have a gear score of 4100 (or something near to that)
Group was: (gear scores are rough from memory)
Dk tank - 5500
Druid healer - 5300
Lock - 5700
Me - 4100
Hunter - 2700
Just before the first wave, tank pips up with 'hope you can dps lock to make up for the 2 !@#$geared noobs'. I replied with something offensive and off we go.
Once the 1st wave is down, recount is showing that the lock is predictably up 5k + dps and topping the damage done.
I am somewhere around 3.5k dps and 2nd for dam and the hunter is putting in a good effort hitting 2.4k dps and managing to keep up best he can on damage done.
I point this out to the tank as i feel that for our gear score we are both posting pretty good figures, neither of us have been on the wrong targets and we have both kept up with the pace the tank is setting. We are easily on target for the timed run and on meathook our dps stayed roughly the same proving it wasnt just aoe inflating the figures. In fact the hunter went up to about 2.7k so good job from him.
Tank tells me that i am still a noob and quits as soon as the grouping debuff drops off :P.
On another note, same tank has barely hit 2.3k dps and is quite down on the damage done which for a high gear scored aoe based tank i was surprised at but there you go... didnt tell him that !
Gearscore is handy as a benchmark to see how you are doing but it doesnt remotely take into account the skill of the fingers on the keyboard.
Ignore gearscore, enjoy pugging and if anyone gives you a hard time for your score prove em wrong and put them in that bracket of 'idiot elitist'.
gratz on 80 and enjoy
