What is a reasonable amount of DPS to expect from Ret?

So, here's the deal. I tank 99.99999% of the time. I love tanking. Through tanking instances through LFD, I acquired enough gear and emblems to get BiS for non-raid Ret (minus the NES, 26 runs and counting, seen it less than the hilt).
I only acquired the gear because I had geared out my tank spec and the option was there to acquire off-spec gear.
Fast-forward to monday night and I forgot to do my weekly. A raid was forming that only needed DPS. So, I figure, why not? I have the add-on that tells you what button generates the most threat at that moment and when I switched specs, it automatically changed it to monitor me as Ret.
So, I get to the boss and just spam whatever buttons I see on the screen. He dies. I did 4.5K dps. I was surprised!
This increased my interest in Ret by about 5%. So now I'm wondering, where does Ret stand in end-game? I know rogues were doing upwards of 10K dps fully raid geared...does Ret have that kind of potential? Let's say you clear ICC 4-5 times as ret and acquired reasonable gear in that timeframe, what kind of DPS are we talking about here?

Saurfang and Festergut are both Undeads, which will increase ret DPS (then again, all ICC bosses are).

Exorcism is always a crit, 3% from Crusade, you can use HW (probably not in a single target, but)
