Hey everyone. Long time poster, but this will be the first time I reveal my Paladin to you all. :3
So, I've been slowly gearing up my Ret spec. I love Ret, and while it had been my PvP spec, I've gotten to liking it for PvE. I was hoping for some advice on where to go from where I am to where I should be.
I've been doing Heroics and regular ToC / ICC 5-man's as Prot, and Need rolling on DPS gear when no one else needs it, along with saving emblems. I hate waiting for ques, even though more often than not I can que as DPS and just alt-tab and browse some websites while waiting. I like the faster ques, and for the most part, I end up with DPS that is already geared.
Obviously, I have some upgrades to make. I've been trying to get the
pants
and
chest
out of Reg Forge of Souls, and the
trinket
from Reg ToC5. I'm hoping for the
ring
available from Triumph emblems (just recently got the
shoulders
from them, so re-saving at the moment).
Is there any horrible problems at the moment? Where should I be going next for some more upgrades?
<3 you all, by the way.

Don't gem for hit, don't gem for (pure) crit, replace DS glyph with a seal or even HW glyph if you're farming ICC5.

I'd been gemming Hit because I had been PvP geared, and thus, had next to no hit starting PvE. I've only kept some Hit to keep my cap, until I can replace some of my gear with items that natively had hit.
Is it important to stay hit capped, regarding farming 5-mans? I've noticed being ~7% has improved my DPS by quite a bit, more notably on single-targets, but could I just get away with gemming pure Strength instead for now?
And similar note for my DS glyph. Was a PvP glyph, basically hadn't replaced it because I didn't feel a strong need to. Obviously, using SoC on trash, and I haven't had mana issues (thus far), and SoV on bosses, but they don't stay up long enough for 10 expertise to make a difference (or at least, I feel). Would glyph of HW be worth it?

You need 5% hit (since you're a draenei) in a 5 man.
Like I said, if you're farming ICC5, HW is probably worth it.

Oh snap. Didn't realize that. I had 8% in my mind for some reason (-1% for the racial). Shows how much I pay attention. :P
And right-o, will switch the glyph ASAP in that case.

Also another thing you can do is run Voa. The new boss drops frost emblem gear and would help you jump alot of gear if you get lucky with the drops and rolls. I am still gearing up my ret spec but the thing thats hard to find on your gear is going to be hit. So keep this in mind if a good amount of hit is on an item.

I didn't think armor pen is good for pallys. (concerning your trinket wishlist).
It was more because it's an easy upgrade. I can farm Reg ToC to my heart's content, and while Armor Pen isn't necessarily the most desired stat, it'd still be better than
my current trinket.
I'm already using an
Anvil of the Titans
, which is a PvP trinket, but the proc effect is nice enough that it's not a high priority for me to replace. It's something I might replace with a Darkmoon card later on when I have the money.

Good point. I'm not in a raiding guild, and often can't make raid times, so VoA would be a great choice since I could easily get in a pug at the moment. Thanks for the advice. :D
