Hacked, partially restored, getting back on my feet

Well, hopefully I've learned my lesson when it comes to keeping my home computer secure and this won't happen again; not sure how it actually happened yet, but in any case the security part on my end is stronger - regular browser/addon purges, scans, and I've added an Authenticator to my account.
Anyway, my two lv80s (priest and DK) were stripped clean, a bunch of lower-level characters lost most of their stuff as well (they don't matter as much tho); Blizz in its infinite wisdom tried to restore my lv80s' gear, equipment and items, but oddly enough
didn't
. I'm still waiting for an official reason as to why they failed to find complete records of my characters' inventory so they could restore them properly.
In any case, they sent me a token amount of gold via in-game mail instead with an apology; while this is very nice and certainly better than nothing, I'm not quite sure what I can actually do with 700g (my lv80s each received 350g). While their gear was nothing spectacular, my priest was in Naxx-10/some odd Naxx-25 pieces gear while my DK was all in blues and sported a Titansteel Destroyer.
I'm not expecting a miracle here, I'd much rather get my original gear back rather than some token amount of gold, but it looks like I'm going to have to pick up cheap BoE gear and reputation rewards and re-run non-heroic 5-mans to get these guys back on their feet because right now they're both sitting in their undies and tabards, and can't even go do dailies.
Any tips?

It takes a while for blizzard to restore all your gear and you have to sometimes email the gm twice about it to get them to restore everything. Its really hard to play with none of your gear. You can try starting an alt or using your gathering professions to get some gold in the meantime.

If your in a guild see if your guildies will do some benefit runs for you and donate or sell cheap BoE greens and blues or even epics to help get you back on your feet. If your in a decent guild that should be something they would gladly do. Of course the days of helpful guilds is going to the wayside but that is a whole other topic.
