@Megavolt:
I would have done the same thing. I don't heal people who deliberately damage themselves. You can't see your HP dropping when you move, and figure out "Movement = Pain" ? I won't go as far as to not heal them at all, but I won't heal them for a bit, and point out their mistake. If they keep doing it, well, they can have fun dying.

The point of lolheroics is to get 2 badges fast. Now what would you prefer:
1) A dps who will stay in some minor AoE damage that is easily healable to kill trash a lot faster
2) A dps who tries to avoid every minor AoE effect and therefor will spend more time running around than dealing actual damage
Just think of the last boss in HoL. The one that does that lightning charge thingy. Why do you think nobody runs away from it anymore these days? It is easy to heal through and if dps just stand in it and nuke down the boss he will die twice as fast as compared to the "proper" strategy of running far far away from the boss.
When I heal I usually tell dps to go full out aggro, not to care about ripping on trash and to not worry about any kind of AoE effect except for the really ugly ones (like whirlwind from the small guys near the end of HoL for example). With ToC / ICC gear you don't even need tanks anymore since dps will take little enough damage so that they are easily healable. I prefer having to work a bit more as a healer when in return the run only takes half the time.
Of course you can disagree with me there. If you don't feel comfortable as healer to do hcs this way you are free to point it out. You are free to tell me when I'm dpsing to not move when I got that debuff, that's perfectly fine.
You can do that
after you healed me
. Your first job is still healing and if you want dps to be more careful then tell them between pulls. Not healing someone (when the tank is not taking any kind of significant damage and you have nothing better to do anyway) because you think he did something wrong is just stupid. You are not my teacher, you are not in a position to try to get me to learn some kind of lesson. You hurt your whole group with crap like that. Just stop it.
What would you say to a dps who refuses to do any dps because he thinks your kill order is wrong? He just stands there and refuses to attack the skull mob. I very much hope you would rip him a new one and kick him from the group as soon as possible.
A healer refusing to heal is even worse than a dps standing idle and refusing to dps. It's so narrow-minded it can't even be matched by Huntards and DKs.

Anyone in ToC/ICC gear who doesn't know the basic mechanics of heroics that are over a year old has failed before they entered the instance. If you didn't already know about the lightning charge (lol?), and you still don't see how it's working now, while it's happening, you really should go back to WoW 101.
Your story has nothing to do with the responsibility of a healer to heal through stupid. This leaves stupid in the dust.

Every single run I ever made in there every pug healer just healed through the damage. I always healed through the damage. All dps just continue running and get healed through the damage.
The damage is minor, it doesn't matter, there is absolutely no reason at all to pay attention to it.
It has nothing to do with "stupid". And nothing with WoW 101. If something has no way of killing you (except when the healer is being a moron on purpose) then why care about it?
A healer who tries to justify not healing is like a doctor who would let patients he doesn't like die. You can yell at them as much as you want and be angry with them but not healing is the lowest form of expressing your opinion. If you resort to those methods you are not worthy of being a healer.
By the way: "If you didn't already know about the lightning charge (lol?)". What's so lol about that? I don't really know about ~80% of the trash abilities in HCs. Why should I care? I don't even know what most boss abilities do, just a select few that are important for surviving. There is just no reason to worry about all those small crappy unimportant talents 5man bosses got and I'm not reading up on HC strategies and certainly not on 5man HC trash abilities. Just walk through it, the 2-3 things that can actually be dangerous are well known (e.g. the whirl on the small guys in HoL) and the rest can and should just be ignored to get faster runs and even a healer in full quest greens can easily heal through this stuff (e.g. the lightning charge).

I've run into this before, was in a group (actually not on my healer, was playing with my husband on my dk and his druid healer) and the tank decided to tell him not to swiftmend. This is pre 80, wotlk dungeons with an undergeared tank telling him what spells to use... Mana wasn't an issue and the tank was alive. He continued on about how he was a failhealer (no one died...) and to stop using swiftmend, even after a little "you do your job i'll do mine" talk from every member of the group. So I told my husband "screw him, stop swiftmend, if he drops I'LL tank". he kept him up with hots only and at the end of the last boss the tank was at about 5% health. He didn't die, but when he was acting ^&*!y we pointed out to him "hey you didn't want this spell used, maybe you should consider shutting up and letting the healer heal?" Keep in mind this guy also couldn't keep his aggro very well, especially for a pally tank.

Well, to be clear -- my "side" was not so much a side as a point. I usually just heal through stupid myself. But my post above was directed at MegaVolt's example of someone in ICC gear who literally does not know the mechanics of heroic encounters that have been around for a year. We have all been farming heroics at least since the new badge rewards were introduced in 3.2 six months ago. This means you would need an extreme degree of situational NON-awareness to not know what's going on around you.
Whether or not you heal a character like this is of course up to you. I just find the example he gave to be the most basic demonstration of how to be terrible at such an easy game. How do you get to ICC without paying
any
attention to your surroundings? It crosses the line from stupid to arrogant.
FYI: I'm not interested in teaching any lessons in the middle of a heroic. If I decide to bail (which of course I do, and for many reasons) then I'll bail very early on; if I decide to stay, I will do whatever I can to get us through, including healing through every shade of bad you can name. I don't healblock if I decide to stay. Heck, I'll even take off my
staff
and put on a
real weapon
if I need to. See what I do for people?

There's always ebay...
"Learn how to play a lvl 80 Paladin Tank in full T9! Only $500!" or whatever the going rate on toons is nowadays.
I've also seen "adopted" toons from players who just give up accounts to friends or allow them to play.

Necroing the hell out of this thread, I know, but I REALLY snapped last night. I've snapped a few times in heroics and even regs, but nothing like this.
Rewind a couple of weeks.
Myself
and my
good mate
had just finished our frost daily and saw an ad "LFM ToC10 need MT and healer then g2g". Perfect. I was, at this point in time, what I still considered to be "fresh" - ie I'd been 80 for about 2-3 weeks and had just finished farming heroics and getting my 245 crafted pieces, but had no significant raid achieves or gear yet. But with Addon across the room giving me all the helpful prompting I needed, I felt confident. My addon GS was sitting at 4802 (yes, yes, I have GS :/)
Now Addon and I joined the group and found that the other healer was also a holy priest - hardly ideal. For the sake of not embarrassing him, we'll call him "Bob". Now Bob had an addon GS of around 5750, well clear of me, and I fairly expected him to totally carry me.
So you can imagine my utter surprise when, an hour later after Anub is down, I check the meters and not only had Bob done only about 75% as much effective healing as I had over the course of the raid, but he had also done WAY more overhealing, and on Jaraxxus and Champs he had made a grand total of
zero
dispels. Oh dear...
EDIT: forgot to mention, 47% of this guy's healing done was through Flash Heal. Forty seven damned percent.

Okay, so last night, I'd been having a pretty good weekend to be honest - 4/5 ToC25, Ony25, 4/12 ICC10 and my religious Taravon and Koralon kills in both 10- and 25-man. I'd gotten something like 4 good upgrades in one day, including one particularly HUGE bonus from my frosties (
Mercurial Alchemist Stone
to
Purified Lunar Dust
, anyone?) and my GS was sitting at 5095.
I was feeling pretty confident and chipper when an ad came up in trade "LFM ToGC10 pst spec". Jumped straight onto that group and was a tadbit excited that I was actually getting a shot at a hardmode. Only 4 people in the group so far, all beautifully geared and well known around the server. Okie doke, I'm going to look away for a moment and roll myself a cigarette. Look back up after 30 seconds and my Grid had totally disappeared from the screen. Hmm... Look in the chatbox and I have that nasty message no-one ever wants to see. So I'm straight onto the RLs case -
Dude why was I kicked?
The others were complaining about your GS.
*%&@!
Already peeved (my server is lame for PvE and it's near on IMPOSSIBLE to get a hardmode PuG), i quickly scroll up through my chatbox, and what do I find? Our good friend "Bob" was put into the group instead of me. Well boy, didn't trade chat hear about it then... I did everything in my power to deconstruct that raid group and denounce Mr RL and his hopeless healer. I armoried both of them tonight, and neither of them have any ToGC boss kills from the last 2 days. Anub hath no fury like a Blood Elf scorned. Grr...

Today a fellow resto druid stopped playing so we decided to do HC with a 5-man friends group to say goodbye... we choosed HoL for the sake of it and we all went mostly naked (i was using Maghar staff, feral druid out of form using Sulfuras, tank only with shield and weapon, DK with grey 2H sword, you get the drill), btw some of us had dresses and cool hats just to look good :) and none of use was using higher than 2,5k GS
Ofc we had 2 healers but even so we cleared all HoL without wipes (even on the might Loken which used to be hard with a lot more gear that what we were using), we pulled General while having the charge and there wasn't many deaths (at least I only can recall one)
I had 17k mana, we could eat the Lighting Novas in Loken (which weren't supposed to be eaten in the frist place) and we were having little concerns about anything at all... this brings me to the question, How can I snap if I can heal with any class/spec tanking anything at all (yes I said any class cause healed a lock in Frost Resist gear with 35k in UP) how could I snap in a hc?
Only HoR and probably PoS could make me snap anyway and even so It would've to be something really huge that I don't even imagine
In raids that is different :) Turning the Jormungars to the raid always made me snap, just because its still kills but hcs don't kill people anymore (in some cases when a tank tries to make intersting to use he might overdo it and we might die but unless you got a crazy guy pulling that's not going to happen)
