There is something new - VARIAN WAS NICE TO AN ORC. It's a first - Will this be a breakthrough? Has Jaina's counselling worked? Has he managed to control his rage? Find out, in patch 3.3 and beyond, coming to a store near you
soon.
Remember me saying something about characters not being static, and that one of the things they
should
do in a story is break your expectations? This is why I stand by the thought that Garrosh will be a better leader than most will expect.
Still, he goes from calm and collected about commiting mass genocide against the Orcs to respectful too quickly - Hopefully it will be better explained in-game than Varian's return was.
I still stand by the opinion that I think Garrosh will be a poor leader of the Horde, especially at first.
He never said he wanted to commit genocide, he said he wanted to disband the Horde and quite frankly I think he still does. However, he's an honorable person, and can likely see the honor in Saurfang.

Now if only Saurfang was to become Warcheif, I think he and Varian could agree to peace then.

Varian redeems himself. It's nice to see that he's not a total asshat. But where the hell is that coward Garrosh? What is he doing that's so important that he can't show up while important characters from both the Alliance and Horde are present at Icecrown. Hmm lets see is he plotting the an assassination attempt on Thrall? Even as a Hordie, I'd like to see Garrosh's head on a pike for his act of cowardice.
This has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Varian doesn't redeem himself, he's merely being a kind towards a grieving father.
And WTF at the random thing of Garrosh plotting an assassination attempt, did you put any thought into your whole post? and what act of cowardice?

As for Varian's atittude being so different, mind that we haven't seen everything yet. Who knows, maybe something happens in the 3.3 trailer...
Honestly, I'm thinking it's just the fact that he is a father as well. (Kinda) the way the Greeks let Hector's family finally get his body even though they were at war.

Well, think about it. Varian's mostly p*ssed about the Forsaken and their Blight. I think he can be pretty sure that Saurfang Jr. wasn't responsible, and being a comrade to Bolvar, who was essentially Varian's brother, I imagine that he recognizes his honor.
He doesn't like a lot of orcs (now isn't that an understatement?), but one who fought and died with one of his best friends would probably be at the top of the list.

Let me point at something else, said by Uther.
Loosely summarized, he said that somebody has take on the burden of becoming a Lich King, so the Scourge armies don't annihilate all Azeroth. My top 3 takers would be Tirion, Saurfang, and ... Muradin?
Jaina
?
Sylvanas
?

I still say the Dreadlords are going to swoop down and take control of the remenants of the Scourge.
As for Varian showing respect to Saurfang.... he know's what it's like to lose a family member, so I can see him putting aside his main hatred of the orcs in general at the sight of 'true emotions'(to his eyes anyways) from one of the 'Savages'. And yeah, that part about Saurfang Jr being right there beside Bolvar, doing the same things he was doing, would make an impact.
Who knows, maybe Varian has been doing some actual studying instead of reacting to everything and finally is starting to understand theres a difference in the Horde.
As for Jaina.... it's Terenas. Arthas stole the crown and called himself King, but I don't think any of the escapees to Kalimdor would know that. And Varian isn't Jaina's king after all, she's the same rank as he is by being the ruler of Theramore.

You know what I just realized...
Varok used a Draenei word in his sons name. That speaks even more of his integrity, in my opinion.

I looked over the quotes... and...
I pity this guy.
(I'm sorry I don't have anything else to contribute, except for that Saurfang is cool.)

I don't think so Fojar. Not only he wishes that the "Death God" killed the Horde. He also said
"King Varian Wrynn says: What our world could be without you and your twisted Horde... It ends now, Warchief."
I cannot believe this can possibly mean a simple disbanding. Genocide is the only way you can rid a world of a race.
And that's the weird thing. Varian's hatred disappeared too quickly and too late. It also took too long for him to listen to a witness' words.
The Horde isn't a race, it's a political faction. He never says he wants all Horde races dead, he thinks it would be better if the Horde didn't exist.
As for his Death God comment (Which was AWESOME by the way) I'd wager that he was %^&*ed off that Garrosh had just tried to kill him. That's what makes Varian cool; he's realistic. I don't think anyone would be in an "Okay, let's talk" mood after what Garrosh did.
