Ok, let me give you a RL example of what just happened in the game (next expansion)
You live in California, your used to going to work, coming home to a wife and kids, having a hot meal, sleeping under a nice roof. Your a fairly liberal person, shunning guns and bullets and love peace.
Next thing you know, Russia launches nukes everywhere, destroying most life on Earth, cities and all including your town. You can't get food for your family because it's scarce, gangs control the city, gas, food, commodities. Well you gonna sit back and let your family starve? No, your going to ADAPT to the NEW ENVIRONMENT.
You'll probably grab a gun for protection, something you hated but know is necessary to live now. Your going to do things you wouldn't normally do to stay alive.
When the world changes, people do too, whether it's virtual or real, it's common sense. And common sense is just as important in Lore as history, locations etc.
Change it to China and we have the Fallout universe :P
I belive for first time that blizzard isn't screwing lore. They added the things right , as they should. Now for the shaman dwarfs that's an other story, but i still don't think it destroys lore, more like evolves it, and i am a lore fanatic.
The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that blizzard will allow worgens to become druids , but not paladins..
This is something like Worgen + Druid = ?
I mean worgens already transfom from human to half "wolf" half human, worgen druids will gain +1 form from other ones ^^
There exists dorf shamans, L2Lore

The Cataclysm is a WTF THE WORLD IS ENDING moment. As Moifern explained, you wouldn't sit there when your world is being decimated, would you?
If arcane power is all you can use to help with the cause, you aren't going to shun it, are you?
Same goes for Tauren Paladins, if the Light is all that you can hope to use to overcome this challenge, go for it.
As for Troll Druids, why not? They are very much in tune with nature, I'm surprised they aren't druids yet.
Dwarf Shamans, pretty much the same as Troll Druids. For role-playing reasons, I would think one who can commune with the spirits of the earth would have a distinct advantage in stone-working and metalworking.
Worgen Druids, they have adapted to their lifestyle, and I believe they are close allies with Night Elves. Plus, maybe the lycanthropy was a test given by Elune, and they passed it, and she shared the teachings of Druidism with them.
As Blizzard said in the trailer, with all the destruction going around, people will be taking new paths to aid in the battle.

this @#$% started when an undead healed by a paladin... and now tauren paladin... this is the end of the world...... of warcraft for me
kbai!
Seriously, if you don't want to play anymore no need to announce it to the world. That someone can become a Tauren Pally in no way affects my game, so I see no reason to get uptight about it.

dwarfs get shaman because dwarfs are earthen and reside mostly in mines and the depths thus they're closer to nature and the elements than many others, i could stand next to a shaman all day long but that doesn't make me a shaman too so how does vicinity justify night elves being shaman over anyone else, especially since shaman tend to harness nature and redirect it, mages tend to bend it to their will, while druids believe in being one with nature.
worgen join the alliance because they were once humans stricken by a curse that turned them into terrible beasts but through some sort of magic were able to hold onto their humanity and resided safely behind the greymane wall for fear of spreading their curse to the outside world. then from what i gather the cataclysm upheaval destroys the wall and the forsaken attack in retaliation of an unfamiliar presence appearing in their lands thus setting the worgen and horde at odds and the night elves come to their aid thus re-solidifying relations with the alliance.

I'm a big fan of WoW, I played the RTS's and enjoyed those, but not because of the game play, but the Lore, WoW has such in depth amazing Lore I could spend days reading it all if, it was in one huge monstrous book.
So why have Blizzard burnt their lore book? Night Elves are meant to hate magic, it almost destroyed Azeroth, and their race when they used it last. They sent the High Borne aka Blood Elves into exile, it created the Naga whom now work constantly to bring the Night Elves down. Blizzard created huge amount of Lore around how Night Elves hated all things magical and now they seem to be destroying that. I've looked over the cataclysm pages and found nothing in way of explanation. Okay not true I heard in the trailer "The races have found new ways to help their survival."
The Night Elves have already defied their better judgment by planting Teldrassil, and they seem to have a penchant for some Azeroth-shattering "oops" moments.
