It would as long as your hit rating stayed over the 8 percent special hit cap number.
The Smashers have a higher weapon damage which would improve every attack that you have.

Melee is supposed to be 3rd underneath Oblit and FS, if you are doing it correctly. The percentage will changed based on time in contact with the boss, amount of hit, amount of haste, and amount of haste buff procs during the fight also based on who is in your party. Crit does lower alot because of spec and DW weapons have less stats on it. The Smasher would be MH as it has more damage to it.

I'm having a little trouble breaking 2k DPS on a dummy. I use the recommended rotation but I think it may be my gear.
Here's my toon

Well first off the dummies are just used to help you get your rotation down. I would not consider the dps you do on them as important.
Your gear is pretty good. Nice weapon choices, good hit, a bit low in expertise, however your meta gem is not a great one it's okay but not good, and the 16AP gem I would replace with a strength stam gem. Outside of that. I don't see how you shouldn't be pulling over 2k dps. You should be pushing pretty close to 3k if you are pulling the correct rotation and keeping your diseases up.
Replacing your Sigil will add a huge dps increase to you as well as replacing those trinkets.
I am not sure why you glyphed hungering cold since you won't be using it. There are better glyphs for your needs. Are your diseases clipping? Are you keeping dual diseases?

What Sigil do you recommend? VH or Awareness?

Sigil of Awareness is still considered the best dps increase of the sigils. It is marginally better than the new one and much, much better than the Sigil from Ulduar

One of my guildies switched to DW recently and he said he was having a lot of fun with it, so I decided to give it a try. I've loved it ever since then. I've also been doing more DPS than I had been with 2 hander. Anyways, I read this topic and the EJ topic about DW and I've basically just copied what they've been doing.
My question involves the rotation. I was trying to see which 2 weapons would be the best for me currently and I noticed that my rotation isn't working right. My goal is the usual IT/PS/OB/BS/BS/HoW/FS dump then OB/OB/OB/FS dump with HB thrown in there when Rime procs. My issue is that I can't get that third OB in the second part of the rotation. It shows I have 2 blood runes, but by the time I can get a 3rd OB in, I can't, because I've only got 1 blood rune. The only time it works as intended is when I have to refresh the diseases, and I just start my rotation over. When I come into the second part of my second rotation, both blood runes stick and I can get off 3 OB's, sometimes. Typically, I can squeeze off a 3rd OB right before my diseases fall off, but that takes away the OB in the 1st part when I start over.
What am I doing wrong? I've looked through Recount, and it's not an issue of my BS's missing. I'm at a total loss. I had the idea of using Blood Tap to make fix the issue, but a 1 minute CD is just not cutting it. If you guys have ANY advice, I am willing to listen. My armory link is in my sig, if it'll help. (When I logged on earlier, I was wearing a 2h, no idea why. I'm using
IF smasher
with FC and
Reaper
with RI.)

Question on weapons: I know slow/slow is the way to go for frost DW, but how much of a factor is weapon speed? I currently have the
Grimhorn mace
, and the
Rune-Etched Blade
, as potential offhands, and I'm seeing a 300 DPS increase over the mace, using the sword, despite it being so fast. I know it's stated quite clearly that you say that slow/slow is the best, stats, wep DPS, regardless, but I have a hard time dismissing such a large gap.
My testing method was on a target dummy with full HP, was down to 40% when I was done with it(didn't want Merciless Combat skewing results). Just wailed away on it for about 30% HP, then switched just that weapon and went at it again.

@freezedeath - Managing your disease is extremely tough. I typically use pest in place of BS on my second go through using a rotation similar to this at times - IT/PS/OB/BS/BS/FS/OB/OB/Pest/BS/FS dump - My problem is I am only specced 1 point in CoG so in my first rotation I become runic power starved and have about 2-3 seconds with only melee, after the first rotation I see no problems. When it comes to diseases falling off Occassionally I do, but I lose them for 1 second at most and then reapply with IT/PS. For example, last night I was dpsing Uld10 - and we had no enhance shaman so I would reapply my IT/PS on my 3rd Rotation. Now this meant that IIT fell off occasionally, but my diseases stayed on and my rotation was simplified. However, there were times that my diseases were at 4 seconds and my pest was still at 4 seconds of cooldown left then the diseases fell off and I had to reapply. It's a matter of applying a bit early on your first rotation so that every rotation after comes out on closer to the fall off.
Concerning your 3rd OB disappearing it's because you are using a GCD on HoW in your first rotation this will cut 1.5 seconds off your rotation. HoW should be used as you begin your run to the target and not in the middle of an already tight rotation.
@Nyito - what spec are you using where a weaker weapon comes out on top. A fast offhand weakens the following attacks - Oblit/FS/BS/Necrosis/BcB/PS/Melee - now granted a fast offhand allows more procs of BcB and Necrosis, and is better for both of those attacks. However, a fast off hand in an actual raid fight falls far behind the Slow offhand in terms of total dps. DPS on a dummy is non-reliable it can give you an idea, but in raid situations and with a proper rotation a slow offhand will win just about every time, and maximizes your top dps attacks.
